Role Overview:
In this internship, you’ll be part of the General Counsel Commercial Team, which is a customer-facing team as part of the Civil Aerospace Customer Team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Pursuing all opportunities to maximise profit and cash for the company by managing or supporting, as appropriate, pricing and business cases, and instructing and administering new business agreements to fully secure these opportunities
- Negotiating the resolution of claims, disputes and litigation to minimise cost and risk to the company through direct interaction with customers across the Asia Pacific and Greater China regions. Helping to manage any potential market perception issues
- Managing customer restructurings, rehabilitations and insolvencies through to conclusion to provide the best possible outcome for the business
- Supporting internal approval sessions relating to the issues being managed to ensure a timely response can be provided to customers
- Identifying potential risks and liabilities inherent in commercial solutions and/or existing contracts. Negotiating contracts or contract amendments to minimise or mitigate these, using judgement to balance commercial and legal considerations against the requirements of the business
- Interfacing with specialist departments, as required, to obtain advice and guidance, and evaluating and applying this as appropriate
- Ensuring compliance with policies, procedures, guidelines and the contracting framework in line with relevant governance requirements
- Delivering and supporting continuous improvement and commercial best practice activities for the business and General Counsel function
- Maintaining frequent and clear communication internally across all issues being managed
Who we’re looking for:
- Interpersonal, diplomacy, communication, influencing and negotiation skills
- Ability to solve complex problems while maintaining customer focus
- Highly motivated and capable of working under own initiative
- Sound commercial judgement and business acumen
- Proficient in all aspects of administration and Microsoft Office suite
- Ability to prioritise workloads to meet demanding deadlines
- Exposure or experience or of influencing at all levels, internally and externally is a plus.
