Job Description

Quantum is now, and it's built here.

Oxford Ionics, now part of IonQ, is pioneering the next generation of quantum computing. Using our world-leading trapped-ion technology, we're building the most powerful, accurate and reliable quantum systems to tackle problems that today's supercomputers cannot solve. Joining Oxford Ionics means becoming part of a global IonQ team that is transforming the future of quantum technology - faster, at scale, and with real world impact.

IonQ, Inc. [NYSE: IONQ] is the world's leading quantum company delivering solutions to solve the world's most complex problems. IonQ's newest generation quantum computers, IonQ Tempo and IonQ Forte Enterprise, are the latest in cutting-edge systems that have been helping customers and partners such as Amazon Web Services, AstraZeneca, and NVIDIA achieve 20x performance results. The company achieved 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity, setting a world record in quantum computing performance in 2025.

The company is accelerating its technology roadmap and intends to deliver the world's most powerful quantum computers with 2 million qubits by 2030 to accelerate innovation in drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, logistics, cybersecurity, and defense. IonQ's advancements in quantum networking position the company as a leader in building the quantum internet.

What to expect:

We are looking for an International Tax and Transfer Pricing Manager to join IonQ’s global tax function, based in Oxford, UK. This role will lead transfer pricing strategy and documentation while supporting tax compliance and cross-border tax matters across IonQ’s growing footprint of entities outside the Americas.

You will help build scalable processes, controls and documentation as the business expands internationally, supporting the global tax provision and partnering closely with Finance, Legal, Treasury and external advisors. This is a role for someone who is technically strong, commercially minded and comfortable operating in a fast growing, multinational environment.

What you'll be responsible for:

You will take ownership of transfer pricing activity across a range of intercompany transactions, including services, financing, IP and cost-sharing arrangements. This will include maintaining IonQ’s global transfer pricing policy, preparing Master File, Local File and Country-by-Country Reporting documentation, and supporting benchmarking studies and economic analyses in line with OECD BEPS guidelines and local requirements.

You will also support tax compliance for IonQ’s non-Americas subsidiaries, helping with corporate income tax returns, tax payments, correspondence with local authorities and audit-ready documentation. As part of this, you will contribute to the global income tax provision under US GAAP, including effective tax rate analysis and deferred tax positions for non-Americas entities.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Maintaining and evolving IonQ’s global transfer pricing policy, documentation and intercompany agreement processes

• Supporting tax compliance, corporate income tax returns and tax authority correspondence for non-Americas entities

• Monitoring international tax developments, including Pillar Two, withholding tax, treaty positions, permanent establishment risk and cross-border expansion matters

• Partnering with Finance Systems, Accounting, Treasury, FP&A, Legal and Operations to improve tax reporting, controls and compliance workflows

• Identifying opportunities for automation, dashboards and data tools across transfer pricing and international tax processes

Requirements

You will need strong experience in transfer pricing and international tax, with the technical judgement to support a growing multinational group across multiple jurisdictions. You should be confident working with OECD BEPS guidelines, transfer pricing principles and Pillar Two requirements, and able to balance technical detail with practical commercial advice.

We’re looking for someone who can work effectively across teams, manage deadlines across time zones and help build scalable international tax processes in a fast moving environment. Experience with a multinational group, particularly one with US parent company reporting, would be valuable.

You’d be a great fit with:

• ACA, ACCA, CTA or an equivalent professional qualification

• 5+ years of relevant tax experience, with a strong focus on transfer pricing and international tax

• Experience supporting transfer pricing documentation, benchmarking studies, intercompany arrangements and tax authority enquiries

• Strong Excel skills, with familiarity using ERP systems, tax software or data tools such as Alteryx, Power BI, Python or AI-enabled tools

• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders

Benefits

Be part of a team that’s shaping the future of quantum. We offer more than just a role, you’ll join a world class community of scientists, engineers and innovators working to unlock the full potential of quantum computing.

We offer a range of benefits, including opportunities to further your career alongside industry leaders, a competitive salary with IonQ stock options, an annual performance bonus, generous annual leave, flexible hybrid working, private medical and dental insurance for you and your family, and much more.

Join us and be part of the future of quantum computing.

We’re proud to be an equal opportunity employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
