About the role
As a Senior Commercial Broker at NFU Mutual, you’ll play a key role in delivering bespoke insurance solutions for large, complex and multi-class commercial risks, typically higher value cases placed across insurer and market partners.
Working closely with Agents, insurers and internal stakeholders, you’ll take ownership of complex cases from referral through placement, negotiating terms and ensuring each case is structured and handled to the highest technical, compliance and service standards. This includes assessing risk exposures, shaping market strategy and securing appropriate, competitive cover that delivers strong customer outcomes.
You’ll be part of a mid-corporate team supporting NFU Mutual’s growing commercial proposition, operating at the point where we look beyond our own risk appetite and into external markets. Alongside direct case ownership, you’ll make a wider technical contribution, acting as a point of reference for complex referrals, underwriting decisions and market engagement activity.
In addition to your casework, you’ll provide expert technical guidance, coaching and mentoring to colleagues, helping build capability, consistency and confidence across the team. There will also be opportunities to contribute to wider initiatives and projects that support the continued growth and development of NFU Mutual’s commercial insurance offering.
This role is know internally as a Complex Corporate Account Lead.
This role falls under Insurance Distribution Directive requirements, and as a result, role holders will be required to demonstrate ongoing Continuous Professional Development in role, along with undergoing regular re-screening to show that they are of “Good Repute”. About you
You’re an experienced commercial insurance professional with strong technical credibility and the confidence to lead complex conversations with agents, insurers and stakeholders. You bring sound judgement, a collaborative mindset and a strong focus on quality, compliance and customer outcomes.
You’ll demonstrate:
- Extensive experience within the UK commercial insurance market, gained within an insurer or broker environment
- Proven expertise handling large, complex or multi-class commercial risks, including placement and negotiation with external markets
- Strong technical knowledge across core commercial lines, with the ability to structure and place business effectively
- Confidence operating within authority levels, compliance requirements and quality standards
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, influencing effectively across Agents, insurers and internal teams
- Experience providing technical advice, coaching or mentoring to support others and raise overall capability
