We’re looking for a hands-on Principal Solutions Engineer to join our Asia-Pacific Digital Solutions team and lead our technical engagement with Mott MacDonald’s Global Delivery Services based in India. You will develop solutions in Python and TypeScript, review outputs produced by GDS, and ensure the work meets our technical standards.
What does being a Solutions Engineer at Mott MacDonald look like?
Solutions Engineers at Mott MacDonald help transform the way infrastructure is designed, built and operated by enabling better decisions, faster and at lower cost.
They work with internal and external clients to understand business and project challenges, then design and deliver practical digital solutions across Mott MacDonald’s digital platform, Moata, and related cloud-based tools. Solutions include data pipelines, spatial analytics, dashboards, workflow tools, integrations, automation and pro-code AI solutions, leveraging Moata’s microservices and development framework.
This role combines hands-on technical delivery with client engagement and project leadership. You will be part of an Asia-Pacific-wide team, working with colleagues in Australia, New Zealand and Asia to deliver solutions for projects across the region. You will work closely with Global Delivery Services throughout design and delivery, contribute directly to development, and review the quality of outputs produced.
Your core responsibilities will include
Work as part of the Asia-Pacific Digital Solutions team to deliver digital solutions that support infrastructure design, delivery, and operations across the region.
Lead the technical engagement with Global Delivery Services in India.
Develop and configure solutions on Moata using Python, TypeScript and related cloud-based tools.
Review code produced by GDS and ensure it meets our technical standards.
Work with GDS engineers to resolve technical issues.
Lead the design and delivery of digital solutions across client and internal projects.
Work with clients and project teams to understand requirements, define problems, and shape practical solution approaches.
Translate business and project needs into clear technical designs, delivery plans and implementation tasks.
Prepare and review delivery estimates, defining scope, effort, assumptions, risks, and the delivery approach.
Provide technical leadership across the software delivery lifecycle, including design, development, testing, deployment, and support.
Review solution quality, manage technical risk and ensure solutions are maintainable, secure and fit for purpose.
Coordinate delivery of inputs across geographies, disciplines, and project teams.
Contribute to reusable patterns, standards and ways of working that improve consistency and delivery efficiency.
