Your remit will centre on project applications – specialised, often niche, software titles critical to project success and innovation within our business. This is a unique opportunity to influence our technology landscape, ensure the seamless delivery of client solutions, and drive best value for the organisation.

Reporting directly to the Procurement Manager – IT, you will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, suppliers, and cross-functional teams, ensuring that all procurement activities align with Group IT guidelines, ethical standards, and sustainability objectives. Your expertise in negotiation and supplier management will be crucial in securing the most advantageous commercial terms and fostering strong, productive supplier partnerships.

If you are passionate about procurement, thrive in a fast-moving environment, and want to play a key role in delivering best-in-class technology solutions, we invite you to apply and help us drive excellence across our project applications portfolio.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end procurement process for the project applications subcategory, including needs assessment, market analysis, supplier identification, tendering, negotiation, contract management, and supplier performance reviews.

  • Act as the subject matter expert for all technical software titles essential for engineering project delivery, staying abreast of market developments and emerging technology trends.

  • Develop and implement robust procurement strategies that deliver cost savings, minimise supply risk, and maximise value, in line with the organisation’s objectives and IT category plans.

  • Negotiate complex commercial agreements with niche software vendors, ensuring optimal pricing, licensing terms, and compliance with all regulatory and contractual requirements.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including engineering teams, IT, legal, and finance, to ensure that procurement solutions meet business needs and project deadlines.

  • Collaborate on the creation and management of master agreements with global suppliers to streamline procurement activities and support operational efficiency.

  • Monitor and analyse spend data, market conditions, and supplier performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation.

  • Champion the adoption of best practices, ethical sourcing, and sustainability within all procurement activities.

Qualifications :

  • Proven track record in IT procurement, with demonstrable experience managing complex software categories, ideally within an engineering or professional services environment.

  • Expert negotiation skills, with a strong ability to deliver commercial value and manage relationships with specialist and niche vendors.

  • Deep understanding of the software procurement lifecycle, including licensing models, compliance, and contract management.

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organisation.

  • Analytical mindset, with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience working with global teams and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.

  • Degree qualified in a relevant discipline; CIPS or equivalent procurement certification highly desirable.

Essential Experience:

  • Proven expertise in category, supplier, and contract management, with a track record of delivering value in dynamic environments.

  • Strong experience in procuring and negotiating high-value contracts, demonstrating commercial acumen and strategic thinking.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead end-to-end RFP processes for senior stakeholders, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives.

  • Solid understanding of the Category Management process and its application in complex organisations.

  • Hands-on experience implementing procurement policies, procedures, and governance, driving best practice across the business.

  • A history of generating significant financial savings through effective supplier negotiation and relationship management.

Desirable Experience:

  • MCIPS qualified or actively working towards a CIPS qualification, reflecting a commitment to professional development.

  • Experience thriving in environments where customer requirements are diverse and ever evolving.

  • Demonstrated success in tendering and managing contracts exceeding £1 million, ensuring robust governance and value delivery.

  • Experience embedding best practice in contract and supplier management to support business objectives.

Personal Attributes:

  • Genuine passion for technology and continuous learning, staying ahead of industry trends.

  • Ability to effectively balance multiple demands and priorities, maintaining clarity and composure under pressure.

  • Meticulous attention to detail, with a relentless focus on delivering quality outcomes.

  • Outstanding conflict resolution, communication, and collaboration skills, fostering strong relationships at all levels.

  • A logical and analytical problem-solver, able to navigate complex challenges and deliver innovative solutions.
