Job Description

Asset Category Management team within APM Terminals’ Procurement Organization is responsible for Global Category Management of all CAPEX and OPEX spend for APM Terminals within the areas of Alliance Management, Civil, Energy, Equipment, Automation and Asset Lifecycle Management including Maintenance & Repair.

The individual in this position is required to work closely with APMT’s global technical functions and 75+ business units globally. This position is responsible to utilize APMT’s key Equipment and Automation suppliers in support of APM Terminals’ strategic objectives through a systematic and disciplined approach to category management.

The position is responsible to manage the Global Equipment and Automation Category of Yard Cranes with an annual spend of 250+ million USD. Ongoing/upcoming key projects/initiatives under the category scope includes – Automated RTG pilot and subsequent scale up, delivering on Automated RMG projects.

Accountabilities

  • Oversee an annual ~USD 250+ million portfolio of spend within the Equipment and Automation category scope
  • Responsible for Global Category Management of both manual and automated Yard Crane Equipment (Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes, Rail Mounted Gantry Cranes, Cantilever Gantry Cranes)
  • Responsible for formulating, driving, and implementing category strategies
  • Responsible for managing relationships with technical stakeholders internally and externally
  • Responsible for the overall development and execution of the Category scope – procurement of asset, technology, and Maintenance & Support requirements

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the procurement projects
  • Lead Supplier Contract/Price negotiations
  • Actively engage with technical functional and leaders of various Global Business Functions and Terminals
  • Drive accountability and deliver results on key financial and operational metrics such as cash discipline, cost savings and asset utilization
  • Develop and manage key suppliers through structured Supplier Relationship Management, this includes Suppliers such as but not limited to Kalmar, Konecranes, ZPMC, Liebherr, Kuenz
  • Drive supplier engagement transformation through partnership and non-equity alliance models
  • Act as the center of excellence for the managed categories through complete understanding of the products, their application, suppliers, industry trends, competitive landscape, future technologies and innovations
  • Support the business functions and business units in resolving Supplier Delivery, Quality, Commercial or Contractual issues.
  • Coordinate with regional procurement teams to ensure effective negotiation and contract implementation, harvesting supplier synergies and streamlined engagement with business functions across relevant categories.
  • Champion implementation of internal risk management / mitigation controls to ensure compliance to corporate policies and statutory rules, regulations, and laws

Position Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of work experience, with technical degree or work experience within procurement, sales or consulting is preferred
  • Project Management experience
  • Supplier/customer management & negotiations experience
  • Experience with strategy development and implementation will be an advantage
  • Ability to, independently and as a part of a team, proactively and successfully complete assigned tasks with excellent results while meeting agreed deadlines
  • Ability to grasp information quickly and relate to defined procurement process
  • Ability to manage internal & external stakeholders efficiently
  • Required to have excellent English language communication skills both verbal and written
  • Willingness to travel approx. 10-20% of work time
