Job Description

Motorway is the UK’s fastest-growing used car marketplace. Our online platform enables private sellers to list their cars for sale and then thousands of Dealers bid on those cars in an auction, resulting in great prices for sellers and access to great stock for our Dealers. Our mission is to move the car industry online and make buying and selling cars a 10x better experience.

Our passion and commitment to this drives everything we do. Since we were founded in 2017 we have grown to a team of over 400 people. We are now valued at over $1B, having recently raised £143M in Series C funding, reflecting the huge growth potential of the business. If you are excited about the opportunity to transform an industry, deliver world class customer experiences and be part of a fun, diverse and passionate team, then Motorway is the place for you!

The Head of Dealer Commercial Planning & Delivery will be responsible for defining and managing the implementation of strategic initiatives that improve the dealer experience on Motorway. This includes defining and launching new solutions, and optimising existing processes for our dealers. This role will report directly to our Commercial Director (Ollie Grummell). You will also work closely with other teams (including product/tech, account management, marketing, finance) and the c-suite to develop joint plans and goals for these initiatives.

This role requires the ability to: (i) think strategically (e.g. supporting the development of 3 year plans; identifying opportunities to innovate our dealer experience, (ii) dive deep (e.g. analysing business metrics to identify improvement opportunities; building financial models to assess opportunities) and (iii) deliver plans through effective partnering with operational teams (e.g. getting buy-in on shared goals; setting up tracking to ensure goals are delivered). Given the fast paced and dynamic nature of Motorway, this role requires strong skills in prioritisation, communication and cross-functional team management.

Key responsibilities

  • Define improvement plans across Motorway operations, articulating how these will enhance the seller experience and dealer experience, and the role that partner teams will play in delivering these plans
  • Deep dive on financial and operational metrics to identify short term and long term improvement opportunities
  • Build financial models to prioritise opportunities and set clear KPIs for the initiatives, including phased goals for partner teams
  • Manage the delivery of new initiatives and track them against KPIs, coordinating across partner teams to ensure they are on track to meet their deliverables
  • Managing two Commercial Managers/Associates

Requirements

  • Strong demonstrable experience operating at a leadership level in a relevant role
  • Experience in e-commerce (ideally with marketplace experience) and/or program management delivery in a fast moving environment
  • Demonstrable examples of setting short-term and long-term goals on strategic initiatives
  • Ability to lead on analysing metrics and key performance indicators
  • Experience leading program managing initiatives to ensure delivery of results on time and to a high standard
  • Working autonomously in a highly demanding and often ambiguous environment
  • Working cross-functionally across multiple teams (sales, finance, operation and product/tech)
  • Being prepared to roll your sleeves up to get things done

Benefits

  • A competitive salary
  • Stock options
  • Annual learning budget - you can choose how you like to learn and find the best learning experiences to support your progression.
  • BUPA health insurance
  • Discounted dental through BUPA
  • Discounted gym membership through BUPA
  • On-Hand volunteering membership and one paid volunteering day per year
  • Hybrid working from home (approximately 1-2 days in the office a week)
  • Pension scheme
  • Motorway car leasing scheme - lease a zero-emissions electric vehicle at a significant discount
  • Enhanced parental leave
  • Top spec M1 MacBook Pro and accessories
  • Regular social events
