Reporting directly into the Group Finance Director, the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis will deliver first class FP&A service to senior stakeholders of the CFO. The role requires a strategic and proactive outlook and is critical to ensuring optimal financial performance of the Group including robust cost control. This role is part of the senior leadership cohort (SLC) of MONY Group and as such benefits from targeted leadership development opportunities.

How you'll spend your day

  • Lead all group level planning and forecasting with a proactive focus on risks and opportunities and clear articulation of actions and choices for senior stakeholders. This includes in-year (quarterly) forecasts and annual budget. Leading on both the approach, process and content of plans & forecasts. Clear guidance and constructive challenge of forecasts is key in this role.

  • Support to Group Finance Director, CFO, CEO and Investor Relations team in understanding performance and plans and facilitation of course correcting actions.

  • Lead and coordinate the Commercial Finance team to deliver FP&A activity in an efficient (avoiding re-work) and consistent way, providing guidance and challenge where necessary.

  • Proactive delivery of insight and analysis to support strategic performance risks or opportunities, also ad hoc at the request of leadership (e.g. recession analysis) to support EMT level decision making, CFO/CEO and investor relations.

  • Business owner of our financial planning tool (Anaplan) working with the Enterprise Systems team, the supplier and business users to optimize the tool and deliver value for money on the contract.

  • Lead the team though ongoing continuous improvement to streamline and simplify processes and deliver as much automation as possible. This includes use cases for AI tools such as co-pilot.

  • Lead the Opex team (3 people) to deliver ongoing reporting and analysis of operating costs, delivering first class business partnering on cost to Exec, SLC and cost centre managers. Implement zero based budgeting to help and challenge the Group to prioritise value-driving investments and reduce/control spend wherever possible.

  • Close working and support to the Chief People Officer and her direct reports to deliver analysis and reporting on people-related costs and choices on headcount and organizational design.

What value will you'll bring to the role­­

  • Able to successfully operate within a demanding, fast paced digital business

  • Track record of prioritisation and pace with high quality delivery to deadlines

  • Professionally qualified ACCA, CIMA or CA/ACA

  • Ability to explore and analyse detailed performance data to find the key trends driving trading performance without getting lost in detail or complexity. Good grasp and proactive interest in macro-economic and external market trends.

  • Ability to network with peers internally to understand key initiatives/projects and performance trends.

  • Comfortable with challenging the business and finance colleagues on performance trends and data driven decisions.

  • Confidence to deliver to very senior colleagues (CEO, CFO, Exec) and ability to anticipate and adapt to their needs.

  • Desire to constantly provide innovate and creative thinking to problems, solutions and business opportunities

  • Naturally create strong working relationships with senior leaders as a trusted advisor, able to challenge and develop thinking and be seen as a key member of the leadership team

  • Strong presenter and influencer; ability to tell the story behind the numbers in a way that drives insight and action

  • Track record of delivery of cost control initiatives with experience of zero-based budgeting

  • Commercially astute with the ability to identify, understand and mitigate risks

  • A real focus on the customer and on ensuring that everything we do delivers a great outcome for our customers
