Finance Assistant - Cash Accounting

Location: Merlin Finance Hub, Basingstoke, RG24 8WG

Contract Type: Permanent, Salaried

Hybrid: 3 days per week onsite in our Basingstoke office (Chineham business park)

We are recruiting for a Finance Assistant - Cash Accounting to join our AWESOME Global Record to Report Team!

Join our Global Record to Report team and play a key role in ensuring accurate, timely financial control and reporting across multiple international entities. You will work closely with a variety of stakeholders, building strong relationships and supporting the smooth running of our month‑end and cash accounting processes.

The role of Finance Assistant - Cash Accounting is hands‑on, and you will take ownership of balance sheet accounts, maintain robust financial controls, and help keep our reporting cycle running like clockwork. From preparing journals and reconciliations to resolving banking queries, you will be at the centre of our financial operations. As a Finance Assistant - Cash Accounting you will continuously seek to improve processes, support audit activity, and contribute to our centralised reporting strategy.

Qualifications & Experience

• Must hold relevant Finance Degree or 2+ years’ proven experience in a finance role
• Experience in bank reconciliations is essential
• Strong understanding of month‑end processes and journal posting
• Must have intermediate Excel skills
• Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to problem‑solving
• Experience improving and standardising finance processes
• Proven ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders and the ability to collaborate across multiple finance functions
• Comfortable working flexibly in a changing environment
• Excellent communication skills
• High attention to detail and commitment to accurate supporting evidence
