Contractor Safety Manager
Job Description
What you'll bring to the team
Contractor Safety Manager
Location: Chessington World of Adventures Resort, Surrey, KT9 2NE
Contract Type: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract
At Chessington, we're creating the next chapter of adventure! As we get ready to open Minecraft World in 2027, an exciting programme of developments will be taking place across the Resort. That's why we're looking for a Contractor Safety Manager to help us create the safe foundations behind the experiences millions of guests will enjoy.
From major construction projects to operational improvements, you will work closely with contractors, project teams and colleagues across the Resort to keep people safe and projects moving forward. Bringing energy, expertise and a collaborative approach, you will help create an environment where great things can happen safely and where every project plays its part in bringing more unforgettable moments to life.
As Contractor Safety Manager, you will lead the day-to-day management of contractors working across the Resort, setting clear expectations and ensuring our safety standards are consistently maintained. Acting as the key link between project teams, contractors and operational departments, you will help create an environment where major developments can progress safely alongside the daily operation of the park.
You will review and approve Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS), oversee contractor onboarding and inductions, issue Permits to Work and ensure compliance with established site processes. Working closely with project managers, security teams and operational leaders, you will coordinate traffic management, delivery schedules and site access arrangements to minimise disruption and maintain the safety of guests, colleagues and third parties.
A visible presence on site, you will regularly inspect active work areas, monitor contractor performance and ensure safe working practices are being followed. You will investigate concerns, incidents and non-compliance where required, driving actions through to completion and helping contractors understand what good safety performance looks like. Through collaboration, influence and attention to detail, you'll support a safe and successful delivery of multiple projects across the Resort.
You will also work closely with Principal Contractors and external partners where projects interface with operational areas, ensuring changing site boundaries, guest interactions and evolving project requirements are effectively managed and communicated.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and the responsibilities of Clients and Principal Contractors.
- Proven experience managing contractors from a client-side perspective.
- Experience reviewing and approving RAMS and administering Permit to Work systems.
- Demonstrable ability to influence contractor behaviours and promote a positive safety culture.
- Experience coordinating multiple contractors and projects within complex operational environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across teams.
- Confidence conducting site inspections, monitoring compliance and challenging unsafe practices when required.
- Experience investigating safety incidents involving third parties and driving corrective actions to completion.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands.
- A proactive, collaborative and solutions-focused approach, with a commitment to keeping people safe while enabling projects to succeed.
