Job Description

Business Manager - MBDA

Salary: up to €48k

Based in Madrid in Spain and will be 5 days per week office based.

Security Clearance: Spanish Citizen or dual national, but must speak fluent Spanish with fluency in English (C1 Level)

We are seeking a Business Manager to support the delivery of complex defence programmes by ensuring robust contract management, sound financial performance and effective risk management across the programme life cycle. The role operates at the centre of programme execution, supporting Project Managers and Programme Directors in achieving On Time, On Cost, On Quality (OTOCOQ) objectives.

The Opportunity

As part of the programme business function, you will manage assigned contracts from initial preparation through to closure, providing structured business insight and coordination to support informed decision-making and sustainable programme performance.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing assigned contracts throughout all phases of the programme life cycle
  • Supporting Project Managers and project teams in fulfilling contractual obligations and preparing for future business opportunities
  • Providing business analysis (contract management, risk and opportunity synthesis, project oversight) to Programme Directors and Project Managers
  • Leading and coordinating Risk & Opportunity (R&O) activities across assigned projects to optimise business outcomes
  • Organising and coordinating the multidisciplinary Business Team, ensuring effective collaboration across functions
  • Providing functional coordination of business stakeholders including Finance, Procurement, Sales & Business Development, Export Control and Project Control
  • Supporting the achievement of programme business objectives, including revenue, margin, cash flow, schedule and cost
  • Supporting the tailored and rigorous application of project management tools aligned to programme needs
  • Identifying, proposing and implementing process and tool improvements adapted to the specific characteristics of each programme
  • Contributing to the preparation of budgets and cost bases, including the Budget Approval Document (BAD), and supporting validation activities

What We’re Looking For

  • Master’s Degree in Aerospace, Industrial or Telecommunications Engineering, or equivalent technical specialisation
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Business Management, Project Management or a closely related role
  • Strong and proven understanding of Risk & Opportunity Management
  • Solid knowledge of project planning, budgeting and performance tracking
  • Experience working with stakeholders across operational, technical and executive levels
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Fluent English (C1 level)
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required
