Job Purpose
As VAT Analyst DACH, you will be part of the In-Country Tax and Treasury Center (ICTC) for Mars DACH, a team of 17 Mars Associates with expertise in both direct and indirect tax, statutory accounting, and treasury. You will be responsible for managing the indirect tax affairs and reporting requirements of the Mars entities in the DACH region. Your role will include VAT compliance activities, as well as monitoring changes in legislation, tax rulings, and regulations. It also involves understanding and assessing the impact of supply chain changes and other business-driven projects.
What will be your key responsibilities?
Provide VAT support to the various departments and stakeholders.
Prepare the German, Austrian and Swiss VAT returns and related filings.
Analyze and renew current VAT-processes to ensure effective VAT processes in DACH region.
Provide VAT support to and help the onboarding of newly acquired entities into the ICTC scope.
Create VAT awareness and provide guidance to other departments and activities.
Support in indirect tax audits and assist in meetings with tax authorities.
Perform the analysis of the indirect tax aspects of new business operations and initiatives.
What are we looking for?
Education in tax law or relevant working knowledge is preferred.
Excellent understanding of the key indirect tax concepts.
Good working knowledge of indirect tax consequences of international trade (flow of goods).
Good working knowledge of SAP/ERP systems is preferred.
Understanding of customs regulations is considered a benefit.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills in order to interact with finance staff and senior management.
Independent, enthusiastic, informal, perseverant and a self-starter.
Fluent in German. Basic working knowledge of English required.
