At Mars Snacking, we are on an ambitious journey to rewire and almost double the size of our business by 2030. We see digital and data as an increasing multiplier of value across not just Mars Wrigley, but also the Health and Wellness and Retail global business units of Mars Snacking.

With this in mind, we recently established the Chief Data Office (CDO) Organization to define and execute the end-to-end enterprise data strategy inclusive of data and platform governance associated with AI for the company. In collaboration with our various Global Process Experience Owners (GXOs), Regional Champions and CIOs, Functional Business and Digital Technology Leaders, and Global Business Services teams, we will establish robust data quality practices, effective operating models, evolve data in conjunction with AI literacy, and implement durable technology capabilities to govern our data as an asset from end to end. The CDO organization will serve as an accelerator to our Mars Snacking’s next generation of data-led AI journey.

The global director of SAP Data Transformation is part of the leadership team of the Chief Data Office Organization within Mars Snacking. In this pivotal role, the global director will be responsible for leading the E2E SAP S4 data transformation program from planning through delivery in collaboration with the broader SAP S4 business process, digital technology, and enabling teams such as change management, security, and the global ERP program office.

The role requires a combination of strategic thought leadership and a strong SAP S4 functional and technical data domain competency to bring to life best-in-class industry leading SAP data management & analytics practices. Moreover, this role should be commitment to drive continuous improvement in our SAP master and transactional data quality for a significant and durable data-led AI advantage to Mars Snacking associates.

What are we looking for?

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics or related major with equivalent business experience. MBA/master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven 15+ years of experience in implementation of large-scale data management solution within an SAP transformation program
  • 10+ years of experience in SAP (inclusive of PLM, MDG, and operational SAP ERP) data management disciplines, including master data management, data migration, data quality, architecture, reporting and analytics, etc.
  • Experience in SAP data governance design, ownership, and management.
  • Experience with SAP MDG, and core data objects such as Material, Customer, Vendor, People, and Finance data.
  • Experience with various data governance, catalog, and quality tools such as Collibra, Informatica, SAP, and/or Microsoft Purview.
  • Experience implementing analytical solutions in SAP Analytics Cloud, Power BI, Tableau, and similar tools for executive dashboards and operational reports.
  • Experience with SAP BTP, Celonis, and Signavio.
  • Experience leading agile product management and working with scrum teams.

What will be your key responsibilities?

Strategic Leadership: Collaborate with the Digital Core ERP, and Edge technology leadership within Mars Snacking as well as across Mars Inc. and own the charter to lead and drive the multi-year roadmap to transform and build the next generation of Mars Snacking SAP S4 data management ecosystem aligned to the broader Enterprise Data Strategy, Digital Core, and D30 business objectives and value targets.

Capability leadership: Own and guide the team on enabling multiple SAP S4 Data management capabilities globally such as 1) Unified End-to-End Master and Reference Data Management 2) SAP Data Migration 3) SAP BTP Data Analytics and AI 4) SAP MDG Deployment

People Leadership: Lead, recruit, and retain a team of functional and technical SAP data practitioners. The responsibility includes mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance for building SAP data management competency among leaders, peers, and subordinates within Mars Snacking as well as cross-segment across Mars Inc.

SAP Data Management Capability Development Responsibilities:

End-to-End Master and Reference Data Management:

  • Establish E2E SAP S4 data management capability including scope, build, deploy and sustainment of critical enterprise master data domains such as Material/ Product, Customer/Vendor/Business Partner, and Finance data domains.
  • Define and deploy the Create, Read, Update, Delete (CRUD) process for each of the SAP data subject areas for global, regional, and local adoption.
  • Ensure E2E master data synchronization, quality, and governance between SAP PLM and SAP MDG and into operational SAP and subscribing or edge systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-segment global teams to design and implement a consistent and simplified E2E data model for highly shared SAP data.
  • Assess, align, and deploy simplified management of reference data that supports out of box SAP S4 standards and industry best practices, and supports the E2E SAP business processes and technology integrations.

SAP Analytics and Artificial Intelligence:

  • Establish future state capabilities for associates to perform self-service reporting and analytics and leverage high quality data to make better and faster decisions.

Enable associates with artificial intelligence capabilities to augment or replace existing methods of managing master and transaction data in SAP.

SAP Data Migration and Archiving:

  • Develop and implement SAP data migration strategy and tactical approach, including the roles and responsibilities and technology solutions for the current SAP production data to be migrated into future state S/4 and Edge solution for consumption in modernized business processes.
  • Enable data stewards with effective data quality measurements, data security and privacy aspects, along with guidelines for data archival and retention, storage, and obsolescence.


SAP MDG deployment and cross-functional collaboration:

  • Work closely with data stewards and custodians from global, regions, markets, etc. within Mars Snacking and cross-segment across Mars Inc. to engage and deliver SAP MDG deployment and/or improvements aligned to the SAP S4 instance strategy.
  • Ensure functional and technical data readiness in MDG to support SAP mega process and manage collaboration with stakeholders for solution deployment and adoption.
  • Ensure seamless system and process integration with MDG and effectively plan and execute cutover activities during relevant solution deployments.
