Data and technology are increasingly changing our relationship with customers & consumers, and the way we market, sell and distribute our brands, in an increasingly disruptive Digitization of Commerce.

Within the new One European Master Data Management Service Organization the MDM Manager will lead one of the 3 x-segment, market cluster related Master Data Teams being accountable across the Master Data domains “Customer” and “Product” for data creation, maintenance and retirement in Mars source systems as well as product data aggregation and syndication to trade. The role will build on and extend the strengths of the MDM best-practices already in place and look to drive further Right-First-Time accuracy of our data management.

Key objectives of the role are steering operational capacity within the team, integrating today´s spread data responsibilities and fragmented local business processes into one consolidated cluster defined MDM team and implementing standardized processes and data management best practices across Europe in collaboration with peers in the MDM organization to be able to automate and govern master data processes and tasks across Europe. The role will deliver against agreed service levels and data quality metrics, drive process effectiveness and efficiency, standardization, and automation and thereby creating a competitive edge together with our business functions.

What are we looking for?

  • Educated to a minimum of degree level or relevant professional experience

  • Language skills: Fluent in English (excellent written and oral skills). Other languages (market cluster related) are beneficial

Essential Requirements:

  • In-depth experience in managing and directing remote teams, preferred around executing data operations

  • Substantial experience (>5 years) in master data management, data quality management, product data aggregation and syndication and/or data governance preferable within the FMCG environment, including familiarity with one or more master data domains (Customer, Product, Finance or Vendor)

  • Proven effectiveness in working, influencing and aligning stakeholders across segments, functions and different job levels

  • Experienced in implementing complex and efficient business processes and workflows, knowledgeable in applying Lean principles & tools

Beneficial Requirements:

  • Sound business understanding, experience in another function is beneficial

  • Knowledge of external global data standards (e.g. GDSN) and data models is beneficial

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Developing, leading and guiding a highly engaged cross segment and cross market team of MDM Leads and MDM Market Analysts in collaboration with existing peers.

  • Delivering defined and agreed SLA´s and data quality metrics towards the business by managing operational capacity within own organization but also with relevant peers to serve business data requirements and timings. Further, ensuring that the Data Quality KPI targets in the market / market cluster according to externally driven FMCG data quality market standards are met.

  • Ensuring appropriate communication to, and input from, business and Digital Technology counterparts as well as trade partners or external suppliers regarding new and existing data requirements as well as data quality issues to support overall data governance. Balancing stakeholder needs (e.g. Activity Management, Sales, Finance, Supply Chain…) and pushing back or submitting requests to the Mars internal data governance processes/business escalation committees.

  • Driving clarity on roles, responsibilities & data ownership to ensure compliance to data standards and rules and to monitor and improve data quality.

  • Identifying opportunities for synergies and standard toolkit solutions where appropriate and driving implementation and standardization of processes, workflow tools & systems in collaboration with the other MDM Managers to deploy master data solutions and high-level service to the segments & markets in an automated, error-free way along the E2E data value chain alongside with the Mars overall strategy per category.

  • Feeding relevant master data topics and trade partner requirements into the S&OP+ Processes, assessing their size, scale, complexity and impact to the business and giving recommendations, consulting with stakeholder groups to identify opportunities, mitigate risks and minimize potential business disruption.

  • Establishing and representing Mars as a company in external market related Data Steering Committees and process workgroups (e.g. local GS1 entities) to actively engage in data standardization and thereby providing data expertise to internal stakeholders, data users and data project teams.

  • Building an external network to exchange best practices with both trade partners and other manufacturers.
