At Mars Snacking, we are on an ambitious journey to rewire and almost double the size of our business by 2030. We see digital and data as an increasing multiplier of value across not just Mars Wrigley, but also the Health and Wellness and Retail global business units of Mars Snacking.

With this in mind, we recently established the Chief Data Office (CDO) Organization to define and execute the end-to-end enterprise data strategy inclusive of data and platform governance associated with AI for the company. In collaboration with our various Global Process Experience Owners (GXOs), Regional Champions and CIOs, Functional Business and Digital Technology Leaders, and Global Business Services teams, we will establish robust data quality practices, effective operating models, evolve data in conjunction with AI literacy, and implement durable technology capabilities to govern our data as an asset from end to end. The CDO organization will serve as an accelerator to our Mars Snacking’s next generation of data-led AI journey.

The Global Senior Director of Enterprise Data & AI stewardship and delivery of Plan-to-Deliver is part of the leadership team of the Chief Data Office Organization within Mars Snacking. In this pivotal role, the global director will be partnering with the Global Process Experience Owner (GXO) and Global Network Leads to effectively orchestrate and deliver all aspects of the enterprise data, inclusive of the data strategy underpinning analytics and AI. The role will also be accountable for driving user adoption of the capabilities for the scope within Plan-to-Deliver business process and collaborate with the enterprise data governance program office to periodically publish KPI metrics, share learnings, celebrate successes, and coordinate escalations with data governance council and/or executive steering committee. This role will partner with the Product Analytics organization to ensure integrity of data assets – enabling reliability to power analytic products developed.

This role will act as a strong player-coach within Plan-to-Deliver mega process. As such, in addition to demonstrating domain expertise and commitment to driving continuous improvement in data quality and stewardship, this role must also have a strong blend of vision, pragmatism, business and technology leadership skills and the ability to effectively communicate, collaborate with and influence senior business and technical leaders.

This role ensures seamless coordination, optimization, and delivery of data-driven insights while helping advancement of AI capabilities for the mega process scope.

Functional Scope of Plan-to-Deliver Mega Process

Plan-to-Deliver is the end-to-end supply chain and sales process, with a scope “from origin to purchase” covering 80% of the associate headcount across Mars Snacking with the vision statement: Winning with customers & consumers by reinventing how we work, from origin to purchase, whilst creating a lasting positive impact for our associates and our planet

Data Object Accountability: Customer, Vendor, Sales/Order, Forecasting, Contracts, Co-pack/Co-man, promotions, prices and many more.

Platform governance: SAP S/4, Kinaxis, MES, Salesforce

What are we looking for?

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or business analytics or related major with equivalent business experience. MBA/Master's degree preferred.
  • Proven 15+ years of experience in large scale data management and business transformation.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expert domain knowledge of end-to-end supply chain and sales process including Market Execution Plan, Deployment Orchestration, End to End Planning, Source, Make, Deliver, Sell to Customer, Service Customer
  • Strong expertise in data domains such as Customer, Vendor, Sales/Order, Forecasting, Contracts, Co-pack/Co-man, promotions, price and so on.
  • Experience with SAP S/4, Kinaxis, MES, Salesforce preferred.
  • Recent experience as global data steward / chief data steward is preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in data strategy, data architecture, data management, and/or data quality, analytics and AI, and other related technical discipline
  • Leadership experience establishing data fluent organizations with effective data governance and quality training and change management programs.
  • Experience with various data governance, catalog and quality tools such as Collibra, Informatica, SAP, and/or Microsoft Purview
  • Experience with Master Data Management, SAP MDG and core data objects such as Material, Customer, Vendor data.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Define and execute a fully integrated Data and AI stewardship strategy for Plan-to-Deliver mega process.
    • Align stewardship efforts with business objectives and priorities.
    • Guide the GxO and Global Network Leads with data & AI enabled automation opportunities to accelerate the process simplification and digitization journey.
  • Data Governance, Quality, and Metadata Management Orchestration:
    • Define and continuously improve data stewardship practices for Plan-to-Deliver business process.
    • Facilitate adherence to data governance policies, and guide the management of data standards, and execution of data quality discipline across E2E mega process scope.
    • Collaborate closely with the Data Governance program office and data technology capability teams to ensure functional Plan-to-Deliver requirements are addressed and prioritized by various DG council and SteerCo forums as necessary.
    • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams (as necessary) to address ethical considerations related to data use in AI.
    • While redesigning and sustaining the Plan-to-Deliver process, ensure the metadata is captured, curated, and maintained overtime so it stays FAIR i.e. Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable.
  • Data in support of AI/Analytics Deployment for Plan to Deliver:
    • Collate relevant project information (timings, status, etc) from across the D&A ecosystem in support of Plan-to-Deliver Deployment leadership.
    • Manage the delivery of fit-for-AI/Analytics data to enable the Plan-to-Deliver mega process.
    • Work closely with the data architects, data modelers/engineers, data scientists and AI engineers to ensure data is mapped, tested and ready for analytics models.
    • Coordinate with the E2E Supply Chain transformation team to continuously improve, monitor, and publish KPI metrics related to usage adoption of analytic and AI capabilities.
  • Cross-functional, market and regional collaboration:
    • Work closely with data stewards and custodians from global, regions, markets, etc. to orchestrate timely and right level of support for data issues across Plan-to-Deliver.
    • Engage with and manage relationships with business and digital technology stakeholders to facilitate cross-functional collaboration.
    • Communicate progress, challenges, and opportunities effectively.
  • Continuous improvement and Innovation:
    • Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices.
    • Adapt data stewardship processes to evolving needs within E2E Plan-to-Deliver.
    • Support change management and data literacy/training needs of mega process scope.
  • People Management:
    • Lead, recruit, and retain a team of data stewards reporting directly or dotted line from other groups. This includes mentoring, coaching, and providing guidance for a durable data culture at Mars Snacking.
    • Guide and/or manage Global Data Stewards to collaborate with the Data Governance forum(s) to refine DG standards, while monitoring and reporting globally on domain/ process level quality issues.
    • Guide and/or manage Regional Data Stewards who serve as the connective tissue between all regional / market level entities owning, accessing, and leveraging data assets with the business.
