Job Opportunity: Raw Materials Scientist
Location: Hybrid - Birstall, West Yorkshire
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: £45,000 - £52,000 (DOE) + Bonus + Benefits
Are you passionate about driving innovation and quality in raw materials? Join us as a Raw Materials Scientist and play a critical role in shaping the future of our Dry and Care & Treats factories. You will lead the development and enhancement of our raw material portfolio, ensuring every ingredient meets the highest standards of quality, nutrition, and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and Elevate: Take full ownership of a portfolio of raw materials, applying your deep technical knowledge to guarantee consistent quality and optimal performance across our manufacturing sites.
- Drive Specifications: Partner with cross-functional teams to develop and refine raw material specifications that not only comply with Mars’ rigorous standards but also meet our nutritional and processing needs.
- Lead Innovation: Spearhead complex projects including new raw material development, renovation initiatives, and cost-saving strategies. Manage stakeholders and collaborate across functions to deliver impactful results.
- Build Expertise: Become a subject matter expert in raw materials, sharing your insights and knowledge to elevate the entire team’s capabilities and drive continuous improvement.
About you
- A graduate with a degree in a scientific discipline such as Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field.
- Experienced in research and development, ideally with a focus on raw material development, quality assurance, or food safety.
- A confident communicator with excellent English skills, both written and verbal.
- A natural collaborator who excels at building strong relationships and working effectively across teams.
