Territory:

Must be willing and able to travel to fulfill the roles and responsibilities of the position. Territory coverage may be adapted for business needs after hire. May be required to travel overnight 3+ nights each week. Ability to travel (50-75% including nights and weekends) and able to work from home effectively when not traveling.

Job Purpose:

The ROYAL CANIN Veterinary Diet® Scientific Services Veterinarian (SSV) builds Royal Canin brand awareness through influencing diet recommendations by providing strategic training, education, partnership and support. SSVs partner internally with Royal Canin key stakeholders to support activities, initiatives, and customers that will result in meeting annual Veterinary Business Unit objectives. SSVs work with external stakeholders such as Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and medical leaders to positively influence brand reputation within the larger veterinary community to increase Royal Canin recommendations through the path of influence. The SSV is an integral part of an effective team-based model of building Royal Canin share in hospitals and brand awareness in the veterinary community.

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (active license – at least 1 state)

  • 3+ years’ experience as a veterinary practitioner, internship, co-ops AND/OR residency (small, companion animal experience preferred)

  • Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills

  • Excellent PC skills (Microsoft Word/PowerPoint/Teams/OneNote)

  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction

  • Ability to travel up to 75% within territory (Company car eligible / also requires travel by airline/train/etc.)

  • Ability to travel nights and weekends and make travel arrangements on your own

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the sales team in the assigned geography to educate recommenders and increase recommendations in key accounts as identified in major markets and regions.

  • Leverage relationships with specialty referral hospitals to promote nutrition category sales in surrounding general practices.

  • Support national accounts through relationships with regional medical leadership and attendance at events with highest impact to overall Royal Canin veterinary diet business.

  • Build a network of KOL Royal Canin advocates and potential speakers in territory to be leveraged by veterinary operations, marketing, corporate communications, and scientific communications.

  • Provide best-in-class training to veterinarians, technicians, and hospital staff associated with key accounts in territory.

  • Contribute to overall vet business unit growth through collaboration and joint business planning with veterinary major market and regional sales teams.

  • Provide technical expertise and support where and when appropriate and needed.

  • Represent Royal Canin at national and regional veterinary conferences when needed.

  • Provide nutritional case consultations.

  • Territory and regional coverage may be adapted upon hire; travel requirements will remain the same. Expect to travel 3-4 days each week with 1 day at home for remote home office work.

  • This role supports our field based teams and will require both local and air travel.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

  • This is an exempt salaried position.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the below range, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, if eligible, including variable pay & general allowances (depending on the position and employee’s work schedule). Subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable policies and plans then in effect, and depending on the position offered and the employee’s work schedule (i.e., part-time schedule), eligible employees are automatically enrolled in a 401(k) plan, as well as participate in Company-sponsored medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance plans for the employee and the employee’s eligible dependents, and may be eligible to take up to 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Employees will also receive the following paid-time off (which may be prorated based on start date and the employee’s work schedule): 120 hours of vacation per year, paid sick time for eligible Associates of 100% pay continuation for a maximum of 40 hours per calendar year, and 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year that include both fixed and flexible holidays.
