Scientific & Regulatory Affairs (SRA) Specialist Europe

Location: Slough, United Kingdom

Salary: £36,000 - 45,000 (based on the level of experience), annual bonus, benefits

As an associate of Scientific & Regulatory Affairs in the Mars Snacking team which produce one of the iconic brands such as M&Ms, Snickers, Extra gum and many more, you will be performing a variety of regulatory activities related to finished products, labelling, and regulatory database management to ensure compliance with applicable food and other product-related laws and regulations in accordance with internal processes and within assigned countries and areas of responsibility.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum bachelor’s degree in a technical area, such as nutrition, food science, biology, chemistry, or pharmacology, or regulatory is preferred. Internship or Experience with labelling and regulatory compliance is acceptable in lieu of a university degree.

  • A minimum of a couple of years of experience in regulatory compliance/affairs is preferred, preferably with a food, beverage, or consumer products company.

  • Knowledge in Product Quality Custodian; Risk & Opportunity Identification; Product, Packaging & Process Design.

  • Candidates who are agile, experienced in change management and comfortable when dealing with ambiguity.

  • Candidates who embrace digital technology with case study experience of using AI to increase efficiency and accuracy.


What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Assists in activities to monitor regulatory developments and compile relevant food regulations with respective local support, and ensures all relevant databases are accurate and up-to-date for the region.

  • Assists in determining current and expected regulatory status of (new) ingredients and additives; researches interpretations regarding the safety and acceptability of products and ingredients;

  • Assists in activities to ensure ingredients and formulas are in full compliance with laws and regulations in countries where they are sold (including labelling);

  • Assists with the preparation and submission of documentation to regulatory agencies and other external bodies required to respond to regulatory inquiries

  • Assist in substantiating and approving claims and gaining approval of new ingredients;

  • Performs other regulatory-related assignments as needed, including participation in SRA regional projects.
