Job Description

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities

1. 3PL & Supplier Management (35%)

  • Manage third-party logistics (3PL) providers and suppliers across Factory-to-Warehouse (FTW) and Factory-to-Customer (FTC) transport, warehousing, parcels, pallets, and consumables within the Nordics. Ensure services, products, and costs are delivered in line with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and contracts.

  • Act as the primary operational escalation point and lead monthly performance reviews with key logistics partners to maintain high service standards.

  • Ensure logistics supplier compliance with Mars Distribution Quality Management (DQM) and External Manufacturing Quality Management (EMQM) standards.

  • Oversee and enforce robust stock control and inventory management practices across all 3PL supplier warehouses and stock locations.

2. Operational Strategy, Continuous Improvement & Sustainability (30%)

  • Establish, monitor, and manage comprehensive logistics SLAs and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence. Including reporting tools to monitor activity and performance.

  • Lead strategic Route-to-Market (RTM) analysis to fully align logistics capabilities with broader business, commercial, segment strategies and driving sustainability solutions.

  • Identify, lead, and deliver on business unit Logistics Do it Best (DiB) and cost-saving initiatives to optimize logistics conversion costs and drive value.

  • Optimize and streamline the logistics network to drive operational efficiencies, reduce lead times, and elevate customer service standards.

  • Lead the seamless implementation and compliance monitoring of all key external regulatory and statutory mandates within the logistics network.

3. Stakeholder Collaboration & Commercial Support (20%)

  • Build and maintain highly collaborative, strategic relationships with the European Supply Chain Team to align on regional initiatives, leverage scale, and share best practices.

  • Serve as the primary technical expert and go-to point of contact for the business unit on all logistics operations.

  • Provide active involvement and technical logistics support to all segments during promotional events and sales campaigns to ensure seamless product availability and execution.

  • Influence, align, and deliver on departmental and segment-specific business plans to support overall organizational growth.

  • Cascade global and group logistics targets and strategies across the business unit while actively sharing best practices within the broader Logistics Manager Community.

4. Site Visits & Quality Audits (15%)

  • Conduct regular on-site audits and visits to regional external warehouses, co-packing facilities, and logistics hubs to ensure operational compliance with Mars Quality, Safety (HSE), and DQM/EMQM standards.

Note: Active, hands-on field involvement is required. Regular regional travel (up to 20%) is an essential requirement of this role to maintain partner relationships and audit facility standards across the Nordic countries. A Full Driving Licence is required.

What do we look for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent operational experience).

  • 5+ years of experience in transportation coordination, logistics planning, 3PL management, or warehouse operations roles, preferably within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) or food manufacturing industry.

  • Systems Literacy: High proficiency in ERP systems (preferably SAP) and transport management software (TMS). Advanced skills in MS Excel and data analysis tools (such as Power BI) are highly valued.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong critical thinking and root-cause analysis skills, with a track record of making rapid, logical decisions under pressure when dealing with supply chain disruptions.

  • Communication & Influencing: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively negotiate with external transport providers, influence senior cross-functional stakeholders, and align commercial expectations.

  • Resilience & Adaptability: Ability to stay organized, manage multiple high-priority projects simultaneously, and navigate complex operational environments with a positive, solutions-oriented mindset.

  • Prioritisation & Time Management: Proven ability to manage competing demands, prioritize critical tasks, and coordinate complex schedules in a fast-paced supply chain environment.

  • Results-Focused & Accountable: Driven to achieve and exceed key performance indicators (KPIs), with a strong sense of ownership and a proactive commitment to delivering high-quality operational outcomes.
