Champion Petfoods is seeking a Regulatory Affairs Specialist to support compliance and registration activities for pet foods in Mexico and other markets in the Latin America region. This position will assist with the administration of all functions associated with regulatory requirements to ensure open borders and compliance for the business in Mexico and Latin America. The Regulatory Affairs Specialist will assist with reviewing, maintaining and managing documentation related to facility and product registrations, monitor the regulatory landscape for changes and updates and work closely with various internal and external stakeholders to pursue and achieve KPI’s. This role will also ensure that packaging, labels and formulations meet applicable market regulations and support day-to-day compliance activities. This position works out of Mexico, and reports to the Regulatory Affairs Manager.


What are we looking for?

  • Prior experience in the pet food industry, human food industry, or related regulatory work is preferred.

  • Good understanding of Federal regulations, pet food nutrition, labelling regulations, customs processes, quality control and manufacturing processes.

  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • Demonstrate ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with various departments.

  • Ability to meticulously review documents and submissions to ensure accuracy and compliance.

  • Proficient in document management software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Sharepoint).

  • Strong interpersonal and persuasive communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Fluent in English & Spanish, both written and spoken. The ability to speak and understand other foreign languages will be an asset.

  • Some travel and/or extended hours of work may be required.



What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Support the Regulatory Affairs Manager with preparing product dossiers and coordinating submission and tracking of registrations and renewals in Mexico and other LATAM markets.

  • Coordinate with internal departments (Quality, R&I, supply chain, marketing) and external stakeholders for information and samples required for registrations or compliance activities.

  • Maintain regulatory files and databases ensuring accuracy and timely updates.

  • Assist as a regulatory representative to provide technical expertise, risk assessments, and solutions for product labeling, nutrition, and regulatory issues.

  • Act as liaison with customs, brokers, distributors, regulators, and other competent authorities to ensure that borders remain open for the company’s registered products.

  • Assist with the Claims and Label Reviews for LATAM in on-pack and off-pack communications.

  • Monitor and summarize changes to the regulatory landscape in LATAM and inform on the impact to the business.

  • Perform additional tasks as needed or directed.
