Job Purpose/Overview

Every day Mars Incorporated takes thousands of decisions that are informed by laboratory data. It is essential that Mars Associates have access to laboratory data that is accurate, reliable, and timely to ensure consumer and brand protection, provide competitive advantage and enable operational excellence.

  • Deploy the Mars Laboratory Governance program to verify compliance of the regional laboratory network including ownership of the regional lab audit program.
  • Collect and report to segments, 3rd party labs and management an updated overview and summary of performance metrics from the labs internal and external in the region.
  • Drive improvement of reporting processes in the region.
  • Responsible for the deployment and maintenance of tools to support the client value services.
  • Accountable to translate deploy any global tools and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Governance of the regional network of laboratories.
  • Collect and cascade the laboratory performance metrics and support continues improvement performance with the laboratory network.
  • Responsible for the execution and deployment of the MGS Laboratory Governance Program in the region across internal and external laboratories.
  • Responsible of the maintenance of external lab list in the region
  • Define and owns the Regional Lab Audit program within their region and reports compliance.
  • Monitor process of CAPA’s closure generated through the Regional Lab Audit Program.
  • Escalate any orange/red metrics or technical CAPA to Audit and consultancy senior scientist in the region.
  • Ensure the auditors of the region are trained and calibrated on an on-going basis.
  • Responsible for the deployment and reporting of the standardized operational quality and service metrics, to ensure laboratory quality and service risks are identified, communicated, and managed appropriately.
  • Act as lead auditor in the region for the Mars Quality Laboratory Standard.
  • Provide training and consultation within the region for the Mars Quality Laboratory Standard.
  • Manage metrics follow-up, performance review and continuous improvement of laboratories network
  • Responsible for preparing summary of performance metrics from the labs for Segment business review and external lab review
  • Contributing to business reviews with Segments review and external labs

Education & Professional Qualifications

  • Essential: Degree level qualification
  • Essential: Lead Auditor trained
  • Essential: Experience in developing, deploying, or implementing effective quality management systems
  • Essential: Good knowledge of ISO17025
  • Essential: Knowledge in core processes of lab service delivery and/or food industry
  • Preferred experience in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory (ideally) or in a science-based industry

Knowledge/Experience

  • Essential Good communication skills, both written and spoken English
  • Essential: customer focus and understanding quality and food safety aspects
  • Desired: Experience in ethnographic interviewing, design thinking and prototyping of new client centric solutions
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Fluent in writing and speaking English
