Job Description

The Master Data Management Operations Expert is focused on Mars’ processes for the day-to-day creation and maintenance of items and customers within a region / market. The Operations Expert is expected to drive improvements to these processes, as well as handle escalations from our vendor partners. The Operations Expert also supports business initiatives prioritized by the Segment and supports at-scale Master Data updates as required. This role is almost exclusively regional, focused on North America business segments and processes.

What are we looking for?

(Essential Requirements)

(1) Issue Identification / Root Cause Analysis: The Associate possesses a solid grasp of Issue Identification / Root Cause Analysis concepts and can independently identify issues and analyze data to determine root causes. They contribute to team efforts in resolving problems.

(2) Issue Resolution / Collaborative Problem Solving: The Associate conducts thorough analyses of issues and develops effective solutions independently. They lead collaborative efforts, facilitating discussions and driving consensus, utilizing their network where needed.

(3) Data Operations / Data Entry: The Associate has a deep understanding of data entry processes and procedures, coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality outputs from our vendor partner. They develop best practices for data operations and recommend process improvements to drive improved SLAs and FTR scores, including process automation and machine learning ideas.

(4) Process Automation / Machine Learning: The Associate recognizes potential opportunities for utilizing process automation and machine learning. They identify repetitive tasks and suggest areas for improvement, collaborating with experienced team members to explore these opportunities.

(5) Interpersonal Communication: Effectively communicates in a variety of situations and with diverse audiences and is able to identify and share opportunities for improvement and learnings across teams.

(6) Stakeholder Engagement / Prioritization: The Associate demonstrates proficiency in stakeholder engagement, independently addressing stakeholder needs and concerns. They are comfortable engaging stakeholders and driving prioritization anywhere within their team or segment.

(7) Business Segment Knowledge. The Associate possesses a working knowledge of the company's strategies and competitive landscape. They develop innovative solutions and drive process improvements while actively seeking professional development opportunities. They lead projects requiring collaboration and mentor less experienced colleagues to enhance team performance.

What will be your key responsibilities?

(1) Owning / Writing Work Instructions. Our Item/Customer Creation and Maintenance tasks, most of which are performed by our vendor partner, require specific work instructions and documentation. The Associate will be responsible for ongoing revision of these existing work Instructions, as well as the identification, creation and training on new work instructions.

Capabilities Required: Data Operations / Data Entry; Interpersonal Communication; Process Automation / Machine Learning.

(2) Vendor / Partner Escalations: The Associate will be the first point of contact for Item Creation and Maintenance escalations from our vendor partner.

Capabilities Required: Issue Identification / Root Cause Analysis; Issue Resolution / Collaborative Problem Solving.

(3) Initiative Support. Business Initiatives are projects which require the executing of existing processes at scale. The Associate will be expected to support, and in certain cases lead, key Business Initiatives.

(4) Learning the Business. The North America business is comprised of six “segments” – Pet Nutrition, Snacking, and Food in both the United States and Canada. The Associate will be expected to spend significant time Learning the Business segments they will be supporting.
