Hybrid working, 2/3 days on site – Birstall, West Yorkshire

Your primary purpose as a Formulation Developer, is to create, optimize and maintain pet food formulations in Dry and Care & Treats petfood products that meet the nutritional standards, regulatory compliant and deliver key pet and consumer-relevant product attributes across Mars manufacturing network in Europe. Your role involves leveraging scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and industry insights to develop high-quality, safe, and palatable pet food products that contribute to the health and well-being of pets.

What are we looking for?

• Experience with formulation software.
• Excellent data management & analysis skills.
• Degree in a natural science discipline, ideally in Food Technology or Pet Nutrition or equivalent related experience
• Proven experience in the areas of food technology or a technically related discipline.
• Strong verbal and written English language skills.
• Outstanding interpersonal skills, e.g. communication, relationship building, networking, team spirit.

What will be your key responsibilities?

• Accountable for the recipes formulations & optimisation across multiple Mars factories
• Responsible for the nutritional compliance of all formulations within the area of responsibility
• Regularly optimise the existing formulations to improve cost, quality, performance, while ensuring food safety.
• Ensure all formulation data is up to date and accurate within our systems.
• Keep recipe frames updated & relevant, and providing product information inputs for Product Developers
• Deliver their projects to time and cost targets.
• Proactively manage Intellectual Property risks and opportunities.
• Effectively manage project risks and to inform and influence the project team.
• Build functional excellence in formulation systems.
• Provide training and support to other associates, within the fields in which the job holder has expertise.
