Job Description:

The Director of Operational Risk is responsible for establishing and directing the strategy and continuing development of the Mars Operational Risk Program. The role will direct timely and effective delivery of the Mars Operational Risk Program across all Mars global business segments to ensure the company is measuring, managing, minimizing and responding to its exposure to insurable loss, including property and logistics risks, and events that disrupt operations and impact business processes and performance. This position will support a strategic long-term vision for how Operational Risk shall operate to meet Mars’ specific needs, and work with key stakeholders to make that vision a reality while holding segments accountable to a standard of excellence in risk engineering, resiliency and Operational Risk Management.

What are we looking for?

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience leading and managing loss prevention programs or project/program management in the corporate space.

  • International experience preferred.

  • Previous management experience that includes leading successful teams.

  • Proven delivery of strong results to the business.

  • Proven leadership, change management and project & process management skills.

  • Proven history of building strong internal and external relationships.

What will be your key responsibilities?

  • Establish the strategy for maintaining a Global Operational Risk Management at Mars that is always effective and relevant to our risk profile, and to ensure the implementation of the program against that strategy ensuring it is socialized, understood and embedded throughout Mars Incorporated.

  • Establish world-class Operational Risk Management standards, policies and guidelines to be implemented globally across all Segments.

  • Establish key risk indicators, measures and systems to track and monitor Operational Risk performance and to be able to quantify our exposure to loss

  • Lead our world-class approach to Operational Risk programs through the development and implementation of integrated governance platforms.

  • Provide transparency and insights through business intelligence and key business operational risk indicators to co-pilot with key internal stakeholders including Mars Supply Leadership and others to ensure their exposure to risk is measured and understood.

  • Establish strategies and resources to ensure the timely delivery and review of Operational Risk recommendations and to ensure appropriate governance for completion, compliance and improvement against standards, targets and goals.

  • Direct resources and ensure Operational Risk Programs are being optimized and to ensure site outreach is effective and efficient.

  • Chair the Integrated Governance Program and expand its scope to incorporate additional corporate auditing functions, where appropriate, to reduce audit burden and strengthen cross-functional collaboration and synergies.

  • Collaborate with Sites and consulting resources in the facilitation and delivery of all program objectives.

  • Actively engage with Segment and Site leadership to review and sign off on program recommendations and enhancements.

  • Hold Segments accountable for complying with the Operational Risk standards, policies and guidelines.

  • Represent Mars Risk Management at Operational Risk Industry specific events.

  • Establish and develop world-class corporate Operational Risk and Business Resiliency programs, standards, policies and guidelines.

  • Direct the Global team of consulting and engineering resources retained by Mars Inc. to support the Operational Risk, Loss Prevention and Business Resiliency programs.

  • Evolve the existing programs and identify new Risk Engineering and Business Resiliency processes with current and new business partners to deliver the next phase of the long-term Operational Risk Management Program strategy.

  • Manage the assigned budget and resources.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 153,600.00 - USD 211,200.00
