About the role

APM Terminals is looking for a curious, proactive and detail‑oriented Transformation Portfolio Management Intern to join the global Transformation Office in The Hague. As part of the Transformation Office, the intern works closely with colleagues in project management, change management, value realisation and communications. This is a hands‑on role with real responsibility—ideal for someone who wants to grow, contribute and feel part of a team that values supportive collaboration. The internship runs for six months, starting January 2026, for 32–40 hours per week.

What APM Terminals offers

APM Terminals fosters an inclusive, people‑centred learning culture where interns are encouraged to take initiative and develop new skills. With a strong focus on Lean principles and continuous improvement, the organisation provides a supportive environment to explore ideas and build confidence. Interns can expect:

  • A highly international environment with colleagues across five continents

  • Guidance from experienced professionals eager to share knowledge

  • Meaningful responsibilities and ownership of tasks from day one

  • Opportunities to improve technical, analytical and project‑management skills

  • An internship allowance based on experience and study phase

  • Reimbursement of commuting costs (€0.23 per km), paid holidays and a work laptop

  • Free lunches at the office and a welcoming team atmosphere

Key responsibilities

In this role, the intern will support the Transformation Office in coordinating and maintaining an accurate overview of the global transformation portfolio. Typical responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the execution of the transformation portfolio and resource‑management roadmap

  • Coordinating rollout activities for frameworks, tools and processes

  • Helping build and maintain Power Apps and Power BI dashboards to improve visibility and reporting

  • Assisting with automation tasks using RPA or Python, including debugging

  • Maintaining the Transformation Room and ensuring information is always accurate and up to date

  • Conducting data‑quality checks and managing clean‑up activities in portfolio and resource‑management tools

  • Managing the action log, ensuring timely updates and follow‑ups

  • Preparing clear, visually engaging presentations and materials

  • Collaborating with PMOs across the organisation to gather updates and maintain transparency

  • Supporting additional tasks when needed to help the team deliver value

What APM Terminals is looking for

  • Lean‑minded: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.

  • A currently enrolled Bachelor (HBO) or Master (WO) student in Business, Marketing or a related field

  • Someone registered as a full‑time student at a Dutch university for the entire internship period

  • A fast learner and self‑starter who enjoys taking initiative and working collaboratively

  • Strong communication skills in English

  • Experience with Microsoft 365, PowerApps, Power BI, RPA, PySpark or C# is highly valued

  • A team‑oriented and inclusive mindset, with the confidence to connect with people from different cultures
