Following the recent signing of a landmark concession agreement with the Chittagong Port Authority, APM Terminals will design, finance, build and operate a new greenfield container terminal, the Laldia Container Terminal (LCT) in Chattogram, Bangladesh. This USD 550 million investment represents the single largest European equity investment in Bangladesh, and the new terminal will introduce a first-of-its-kind, design-finance-build-operate port model to the region.

As we mobilise for this exciting project, we are looking for a dedicated People Business Partner to join the team, someone who cares about building a world-class operation from the ground up, works LEAN, thinks smart, drives efficiency, and helps deliver a sustainable, high-impact port for Bangladesh.

What are the main responsibilities of this role?

  • Deliver the end-to-end HR scope for the Greenfield project at Laldia Terminal in Bangladesh.
  • Advise and define HR policies, ensuring adherence to local labour laws, and provide strategic HR direction to support successful start-up, go-live and transition into terminal operation.
  • Support the Project Director/CEO and other management members on employment, labour relations, compensation, benefits, and related HR areas.
  • Oversee key administrative HR functions.
  • Act as an integral member of the project/terminal management team.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Behavioural Science, Management, or related field.
  • Excellent communication in English is a must.
  • Substantial experience in general human resources or related functions, with emphasis on organizational design and planning, employment and labour law, employee relations, compensation, benefits.
  • Experience in medium or large project start-ups is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to manage both project phases and running organisations.
  • Familiarity with local labour and employment law/practices in Bangladesh.
  • Strong knowledge of international HR standards (compensation, staffing, benefits, organisational development).
  • Demonstrated capacity to support management at all levels — top, middle and supervisory.
  • Effective interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Collaborative work style, fostering cooperation and teamwork to achieve results.
  • Strong analytical skills, including ability to collect, compile and analyse HR data.
