Role Overview:
As a Network Rapid Response Engineer within the Technology Operations Center, you will be supporting L1 operations of the Maersk estate running 24/7/365 and providing visibility of what’s happening to keep services running and addressing any issues that arise. Perform installation, monitoring, testing, maintenance and troubleshooting of integrated technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
Responsible for both proactive and reactive monitoring of alerts such as Routers, Network switches, Firewalls, Wireless Access Points, LoadBalancers & Proxies.
Analyze alerts and take appropriate actions such as troubleshooting, escalation, or remediation.
Monitor the performance and health of our Maersk network estate.
Work with the engineering team to ensure optimal application performance and user experience.
Operates data communication systems, including WAN, LAN, WLAN and Perimeter.
Respond to network incidents efficiently, following established procedures for diagnosis, resolution, and documentation.
Work with the engineering team to develop and implement infrastructure automation tools.
Perform daily system checks to ensure critical systems and services are operational
Experience with incident management methodologies (ITIL)
Adhered to defined KPI’s and SOP’s
Technical skills:
Experience with event logging & network monitoring tools such as Solarwinds , Netcool , LibreNMS , ThousandEyes , Extra Hop & Splunk
Deep understanding of the OSI model.
Solid knowledge of TCP/IP
Experience with packet captures and analysis with Wireshark.
Key skills for L2 protocols are Spanning Tree modes PVST+, RSTP, LACP, 802.1q, VTP, VLAN, ARP and understanding of DTP, LLDP, CDP, PAgP
Key skills for L3 network protocols are HSRP, NAT, OSPF, BGP, MP-BGP, DMVPN
Additional protocols to support services/management for both network and end users such as IPSec, DHCP, DNS and authentication such as Radius/TACACS.
General networking and security troubleshooting (Firewalls, LoadBalancers, Proxies , Routing & Switching)
Basic Scripting and development skills with knowledge of regular expressions
Familiarity with key events on common IT platforms
Basic understanding of Microsoft technologies, e.g. AD, Windows Server, Hyper V, Exchange, O365, SQL Server, Microsoft Dynamics, IIS, Azure and web hosting
A big plus if you have experience in the following areas:
Experience with any of Checkpoint, Fortinet & Cisco ASA Firewalls.
Cisco Nexus Switches and technologies
Experience with F5 load balancers and Zscaler Proxies.
Fundamental certification in any of any Azure, GCP or AWS.
