Job Description

Insurance Specialist - Marine or Aviation

Are you passionate about marine and aviation insurance?

Do complex risks, international operations and commercial problem-solving motivate you? Would you like to join a high-performing team that plays a critical role in protecting one of the world's leading logistics companies? If so, this could be the opportunity for you.

What We Offer

At Maersk, you will join a collaborative and experienced Risk Management team that tackles complex challenges and helps shape the future of risk management. You will work in a dynamic international environment with opportunities to learn, grow and contribute to continuous improvement.

You will gain exposure to some of the most complex marine and aviation insurance programmes in the industry while building a strong network across Maersk and the global insurance market.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Insurance Specialist to join our Risk Management team in Copenhagen. You will work closely with business stakeholders, insurers and brokers to manage marine and aviation insurance programmes across our global operations.

This role supports insurance programmes covering approximately 400 owned vessels, 400 chartered vessels and Maersk aviation operations.

You will play a key role in policy renewals, coverage advisory, underwriting activities and stakeholder management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage insurance programmes covering owned fleet, chartered vessels and aviation operations.
  • Support the annual renewal process for marine and aviation insurance policies, including data collection, risk submissions and coordination with insurers and brokers.
  • Advise internal stakeholders on insurance coverage, exclusions and risk transfer solutions.
  • Partner with Chartering, Fleet Management and Claims teams to ensure insurance coverage aligns with operational requirements.
  • Collect, validate and analyse exposure and claims data to support renewals, reporting and risk assessments.
  • Develop risk submissions for new and evolving business exposures.
  • Liaise with insurers, reinsurers and brokers regarding policy placement, renewals and ongoing programme administration.
  • Review contractual insurance requirements and provide insurance-related guidance.
  • Coordinate with administrative support teams to ensure accurate policy documentation, invoicing and programme administration.
  • Prepare insurance-related reporting and premium allocations.
  • Contribute to process improvements and digitalisation initiatives.

What We Are Looking For

  • 2+ years of experience within insurance, underwriting, brokerage, risk management or a related field.
  • Experience with marine, aviation, logistics, shipping, cargo or transportation insurance is highly desirable.
  • Understanding of insurance policy structures, coverage interpretation and renewal processes.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and interpret complex operational and exposure data.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy, fast-paced environment.
  • Energetic, proactive and service-oriented with a hands-on approach.
  • Legal or contract review experience is an advantage but not a requirement.
  • Experience working with international teams and external insurance partners.
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Curious, proactive and eager to learn.
  • Strong team player with a collaborative mindset.

Why Maersk?
