Job Description

Global LCL & Cargo Risk Management (Insurance) Business Development Manager

We are looking for a motivated, strategic and commercial minded LCL & CRM Business Development Manager to strengthen our product performance and accelerate business growth. In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing sales effectiveness, increasing customer awareness, and converting opportunities into measurable business results across global markets, driving growth of Ocean LCL, FCL Forwarding and Cargo Risk Management (Insurance) solutions.

About the Role

  • Orchestrate strategic opportunities across Global, Regional, and Area teams, partnering with Sales and customers to develop and close solutions.

  • Drive pipeline quality, conversion, and growth by equipping Sales teams with the insights, tools, and guidance needed to win.

A strong focus on collaboration, data-driven decision-making, and commercial execution is essential.

Customer Engagement & Solution Development

  • Partner with Sales to engage strategic and enterprise customers, including senior stakeholders, and act as a trusted advisor on forwarding and risk solutions.

  • Design end-to-end LCL and cargo insurance solutions tailored to customer supply chains.

  • Support large, complex, and long-cycle opportunities while building strong relationships across customers, Sales leadership, and global stakeholders.

Pipeline Management & Business Alignment

  • Drive pipeline growth and strategic opportunities aligned to global and regional business targets.

  • Partner with Product and Sales teams to improve conversion rates, shorten sales cycles, and strengthen commercial performance.

  • Ensure alignment between global product strategy and regional execution across markets.

  • Analyse pipeline performance and lost opportunities to improve win rates, retention, and competitiveness.

Sales Enablement & Customer Awareness

  • Deliver product training and build capability across Sales, Vertical, Key Account, and Business Development teams.

  • Communicate product enhancements, value propositions, and market opportunities across regions.

  • Provide targeted support for strategic trade lanes, customer segments, and verticals.

New Business Onboarding & Execution

  • Ensure a smooth transition from opportunity to onboarding and execution, coordinating closely with Product and Operations teams.

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex or strategic opportunities.

Accountability

  • Accountable for pipeline conversion, strategic opportunity development, and growth delivery.

  • Drive commercial impact across LCL and Cargo Risk Management (Insurance) products.

What We're Looking For

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in a customer-facing commercial role, building relationships and engaging directly with customers.

  • Strong experience in freight forwarding - LCL experience preferred and FCL/Ocean forwarding experience highly valued.

  • A successful track record in sales, business development, or solution selling, including opportunity development and commercial growth.

Additionally, you:

  • Have the ability to influence customer stakeholders and navigate complex sales cycles.

  • Exhibit a strong understanding of global supply chains and logistics solutions.

  • Come with a collaborative mindset and ability to work across a Global–Region–Area matrix.

  • Are strong commercially and analytically

  • Have strong communication skills and are fluent in written and spoken English (additional language skills are a plus)
