Job Overview

As a Functional Product Manager – Indirect Tax, you will play a crucial role in the development and management of tax-related processes and products. Your responsibilities will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams, understanding company’s needs, and ensuring that processes and products align with strategic tax goals. If you have a passion for how indirect tax and business processes interact, a deep understanding of tax, finance and commercial processes, and excellent communication skills, this role might be a great fit for you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process re-engineering / business process improvements

  • Strong focus around further strengthening and challenging the status quo within finance, indirect tax, business processes, and SAP framework, end-to-end

  • Ideate and agree holistic solutions that involves working with upgraded IT environment (S4 HANA, SAP ECC, IFS10, OneStream etc.), legacy systems as well as new technology adoption, aligned with the relevant tax regulations

  • Advise innovative solutions for data flows from one system to another with a desire to understand the process, systems (legacy, ERP’s, and latest tech)

  • Assess the impacts of indirect tax changes and implement those in the existing environment

  • Drive business process improvements across all relevant process domains to ensure effective indirect tax processes and functioning

  • Identify and gain expertise on new technologies that can cater to further improvement of tax processes by improving system functionalities

  • Work with Project delivery teams in providing business requirements, review solution design, techno-functional configuration inputs and utilize project management skills to implement the agreed solution as per the project timelines

  • Contribute, review in designing the critical access roles and approve where needed.

Communication and Change Management

  • Engage with appropriate stakeholders within the organization and establish effective communications and change management

  • Drive changes to key business technical solutions, SAP or other projects involving bringing in bolts-ons or work with upstream process to evaluate the best process flow between applications in both upstream/downstream process changes to minimize inefficiencies in Tax processes.

Support simplification, standardization, automation, compliance, and adherence to controls

  • Develop and update Global Process Landscape & Standard Operating Procedures which act as significant source of guidance, for processes that are relevant for Indirect Tax outcomes

  • Communicate with the organization emphasizing the drive for standardization & adherence to set controls

  • Keep a watch out for control failures or risks in indirect tax processes and create & implement mitigation plans for them

  • Critically review and assess the potential solutions against the business requirements, providing best in class IT solutions at E2E scale

  • Evaluate the processes on E2E scale & work towards optimal standard solutions leading to automated efficient processes.

We are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Business, Finance, or Taxation)

  • Strong understanding of commercial, finance and Indirect Tax processes

  • Knowledge of and Indirect tax laws & regulations

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills and ability to operate in a matrix organisation

  • Strong project management skills

  • Ability to balance client needs, technical feasibility, and business goals.

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience with large, global, multinational organizations

  • Understanding and experience in Finance system implementation projects, hands on experiences on technologies like SAP S4 HANA, RAR, FICA, SAC etc. is a plus

  • M.S. Office skills, including XLS and MS Project skill are required

  • Proven record in building solid relationships and stakeholder networks

  • A team player who is also able to work independently, collaborating across

  • Strong organizational & follow-up skills including attention to detail & ability to multi-task

  • Results/deadline-oriented, analytical, and innovative

  • Has the ability to manage and lead change – understand concepts of change management with demonstrated capabilities

  • Able to consistently demonstrate and live cultural dimensions of Simplicity, Focus & Teamwork
