Job Description

We are looking for a Functional Product Manager – Indirect Tax to join us at Maersk — someone who is excited by the intersection of tax, finance, and technology, and who wants to shape how global processes work in a company that is transforming the future of trade.

This is not a role where you simply maintain what already exists. Together, we will challenge the status quo, rethink how indirect tax operates across complex systems, and design smarter, more connected ways of working.

At Maersk, we are on a bold journey to simplify global trade. Our ambition is to become the world’s integrator of container logistics — connecting and simplifying supply chains for our customers through truly end-to-end solutions. None of this happens without talented people who bring curiosity, courage, and collaboration to everything they do.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving meaningful change in a global environment — you may feel right at home here.

What you will be doing

In this role, you will act as a bridge between tax, finance, and technology — ensuring our processes are compliant, scalable, and ready for the future.

You will:

  • Re-engineer and improve business processes with a strong focus on finance and indirect tax within our SAP ecosystem
  • Challenge existing frameworks and help design holistic, forward-looking solutions across upgraded IT environments (including S/4HANA, SAP ECC, IFS10, OneStream and emerging technologies)
  • Assess the impact of indirect tax regulatory changes and implement them effectively
  • Drive automation, simplification, and standardisation across global process domains
  • Shape intelligent data flows between systems by deeply understanding both the technology and the business context
  • Partner with project delivery teams to define requirements, review solution designs, and support successful implementation
  • Identify new technologies that enhance system functionality and improve tax processes

Communication & Change Leadership

Transformation only succeeds when people are aligned — and this is where your influence matters.

You will:

  • Build strong relationships across a global, matrix organisation
  • Lead communication and change initiatives connected to SAP and other technical solutions
  • Evaluate upstream and downstream process flows to minimise inefficiencies
  • Help the organisation adopt smarter, more effective ways of working

Driving Control, Compliance, and Excellence

Your work will directly support operational integrity and risk mitigation.

You will:

  • Develop and maintain the Global Process Landscape and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Promote adherence to controls and standard methodologies
  • Identify potential risks or control gaps and implement mitigation plans
  • Evaluate solutions at an end-to-end level to ensure best-in-class outcomes

What I am looking for

You are someone who combines technical expertise with business insight — and who thrives in environments where collaboration and ownership go hand in hand.

Essential experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Taxation, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of commercial, finance, and indirect tax processes
  • Knowledge of indirect tax regulations
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience within large, multinational organisations
  • Proven project management capability
  • Confidence operating within complex, matrix structures
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Highly valued:

  • Experience supporting finance system implementations
  • Hands-on exposure to technologies such as SAP S/4HANA, RAR, FICA, SAC
  • Advanced MS Office skills (including Excel and MS Project)

What will set you apart:

  • You build trusted relationships naturally
  • You are equally comfortable working independently and as part of a global team
  • You stay organised, detail-focused, and outcome-driven even when priorities shift
  • You approach challenges analytically and bring innovative thinking
  • You know how to lead change — not just respond to it

Most importantly, you embody the values that guide us at Maersk: Simplicity, Focus, and Teamwork.

Why join Maersk in Poland?

You will join a diverse, supportive environment where people are empowered to grow, encouraged to challenge, and trusted to deliver.

Whether you are looking to deepen your expertise, influence global processes, or take the next meaningful step in your career — this is a place where you can do it.

We offer a comprehensive package of salary between 230,000 – 290,000 PLN, a 10% Annual bonus, plus benefits.

If you are ready to help redesign the future of indirect tax within a truly global organisation, I would love to hear from you.
