For our Dublin operations, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Customs Team Lead to join our logistics and customs operations team. In this role, you will lead and support a team of Customs Operators, ensuring timely, accurate, and fully compliant customs activities in line with internal procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer KPIs. You will play a key role in driving operational excellence, continuous improvement, and strong collaboration with customers and internal stakeholders across the Maersk network.

Specific responsibilities:

To support and lead the team to complete timely, accurate & fully compliant Customs activities in accordance with internal documented processes and procedures, whilst meeting or exceeding the client agreed key performance indicators (KPI’s) continuously identifying both operational and financial process improvement.

General responsibilities:

Manage and approve holiday requests from Customs Operators to ensure adequate account cover.

Manage unexpected absence.

Collate, analyse and present reports as required.

Ensure IOPs are reviewed monthly.

Attend customer meetings as required.

Support Customs operations Manager with MPACT feedback.

Ensure induction and training programmes complete for all new starters.

Drive productivity of the team.

Deputise in your Managers absence.

Ensure timely costing of Duty & VAT and any pass-through costs as appropriate.

Maintain a professional and collaborative relationship with customers and stakeholders.

To support all growth initiatives.

Be an active team member and exchange knowledge and expertise.

Actively participate in Customs related projects as required.

Complete ad-hoc tasks and projects as requested.

Ensure that Customs Ops Manager is aware of your training needs.

Actively engaged in your own personal development.

Drive the company values within the team and act as a role model in their application.

Key success indicators:

KPI and other feedback methods (such as quarterly operational reviews, Customs and operational audits)

Your ability to meet deadlines.

Appropriate HMRC mandatory requirements and legislation are fully met.

Specific Customer requirements followed, applied, met and maintained.

Accountable for the team’s ability to meet targets and deadlines.

Technical skills:

Customs systems and associated software.

Knowledge of Customs practices and procedures.

Internal systems.

Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point)

Soft skills:

The ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.

Positive mindset and attitude towards team engagement.

Able to work independently but also collaborate with a team to meet targets.

Strong communicator

Industry knowledge

Leadership/Supervisory skills

Decision making skills

Problem solving skills

Industry specific financial understanding.

Development opportunities and training required:

Extensive up to date knowledge of HM Customs & Revenue systems and procedures.

UK Customs Academy level 4

Internal systems as appropriate.

Key stakeholders/relationships:

Maintain relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders.
