There is a unique opportunity to join Maersk as an IT Assistant Category Manager. You will join the Global Technology Procurement team, where you will play an instrumental role in procuring a range of IT spanning across Hardware & IT Services equipment in Europe
Technology is key contributor and enabler to the overall success of the Maersk strategy to become the global integrator of container logistics connecting and simplifying our customers’ supply chain.
In the Technology Procurement team we work as a trusted partner for the business and technology functions, contributing to the Maersk strategy by procuring technology and managing technology suppliers.
The Technology Procurement function sits in Indirect Procurement, where you will drive IT category management and strategy end to end, with responsibility for supplier relationship management, tenders and negotiation of some of the largest IT deals.

Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibility as IT Category(procurement) Manager will be to develop a category strategy and in collaboration with Technology stakeholders ensure effective implementation of the category strategy that aligns with Technology overall direction and objective, manage procurement of IT focusing on risk management, total cost of ownership and contract value realization and conduct contract and supplier relationship management.
You will lead procurement projects within your IT category as well as the commercial and contractual negotiations in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
Other key tasks:
- Managing a pipeline of scheduled hardware and other local renewals
- Leading negotiations for new contracts and amendments
- Create payment plans for each platform
- Maintain regular meetings with key stakeholders to understand their requirements and align with their strategy
- Define and lead supplier qualification, sourcing evaluation, and decision criteria with business stakeholders
- Manage and execute RFI/RFP’s and act as single point of contact for supplier during negotiations
- Facilitate technical scope discussions.
- Prepare and negotiate contracts in close collaboration with legal counsel and project team.
- Enable high level of engagement and collaboration with suppliers
- Support the business functions and business units in resolving supplier delivery, quality measurement, commercial or contractual issues post sign-off, supplier relationship management
- Ability to gather and analyze business and market intelligence to assist strategic decision making for the Hardware category, whilst having significant responsibility to manage end-to-end sourcing and contract lifecycle activities

- 3+ years in a similar role
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
- Has worked as a category manager/procurement manager with a track record of developing a category strategy is desirable
- Excellent written, oral, and formal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, adjust priorities as needed and meet deadlines
- Ability to influence and communicate across the organization at multiple levels
- International mind-set and strong written and verbal skills in English (master English as negotiation language)
- Comfortable working with PowerPoint and PowerBI and interested in being able to develop and deliver clear written messages
- Mastering Excel based review and able to transform conclusions into sharp key messages
- Strong professional interest in new technologies and the IT industry.
- Have excellent stakeholder management skills and strong interpersonal skillset, with ability to manage and challenge internal and external stakeholders
- Have strong communication skills and an ability to influence decision makers and senior stakeholders
- Service minded and comfortable communicating with many different cultures and all levels of the organisation
