APMT are strengthening our Operations Technology function by creating a new product team focussed on the development of industry leading, data-science and AI enabled tools to power our next phase of operations performance improvement. This highly skilled new team will work with our Operations colleagues to identify high-impact use cases and guide the development of the tools and components needed to enable APMT and Maersk’s operational excellence strategy.

Please note that this role does not offer relocation. However, we are open to considering candidates who are already based in any of the following locations:

  • Hague, Netherlands
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Maidenhead, UK

About the Role:

This role will bridge the gap between our operations and technology teams. You will lead the specification and development of data science, AI/ML and simulation components powering our operational tools, helping to improve productivity and drive efficiency. You’ll shape solutions that solve real-world terminal challenges, working closely with vendors and engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assess business opportunities where AI, Data Science, Automation, and Analytics can create measurable impact across operations
  • Develop business cases, KPIs, and ROI frameworks to measure success and guide prioritization.
  • Evaluate third party vendor solutions and emerging AI, Data Science and Simulation technologies and platforms for integration into operational workflows.
  • Create detailed solution requirements and user stories to guide development teams
  • Propose fit-for-purpose algorithm and solution approaches to new prediction, automation and optimisation problems
  • Utilise a Lean mindset to identify opportunities to address waste and standardise processes through solutions.
  • Collaborate with tech teams to shape delivery.

Ideal Background:

  • Strong algorithmic and modelling knowledge
  • Experience developing simulation, data science, ML and AI solutions
  • Experience in the end-to-end process of developing solutions to optimize processes and systems
  • Industries: AI Consulting, Manufacturing Engineering in F1, Aerospace, Logistics and Supply Chain
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of data science methods (algorithms, mathematical techniques etc), technologies (tools, suppliers etc) and delivery models (agile, devops etc)
  • Strong technical understanding of:
  • Machine learning lifecycle (data prep → modeling → deployment)
  • Generative AI and LLM architectures (e.g., GPT, Claude, Gemini, open-source models, RAG, Agentic Patterns)
  • AI-driven analytics, forecasting, and automation tools
  • Able to shape ideas and concepts with business users and programs
  • Able to assess complexity or likely solutions, value of different approaches and key uncertainties to de-risk through PoC prototyping.
  • Able to assess third party vendors tools
  • Able to create business cases for analysis/solutions with business users
  • Lead the development of specifications and requirements to be handed to Tech/development teams
  • Education: The ideal candidate would have an Engineering, Computer science, or sciences background, with significant experience developing practical data powered solutions to real-world operational problems.
  • Lean-minded: we are looking for someone who brings a strong mindset of continuous improvement – someone who is naturally curious, committed to solving problems at the root, and driven to make things better every day.
