About the Company

Maasvlakte II opened in 2015 and remains the world’s most advanced fully automated terminal, and equipped to handle the largest container ships way into the future. In 2019, the addition of two Super Quay Cranes and ongoing efficiency improvements will increase volume capacity by more than 20%.

The use of green energy and fully electrified equipment made it the world’s first zero emission terminal for CO2, NOx and particulate emissions. With fully fenced-off automated areas, separating men and machines, it is also one of the safest. This makes APM Terminals Maasvlakte II one of the most innovative terminals in the world.

The Finance team plays a key role in the strategic processes at MVII. At MVII Finance is a key function, highly valued for contributions to fundamental decisions about the future of our business. We have multiple high profile business cases that we are rolling out, including a super exciting EUR 1bio expansion that requires our expertise. The current situation is highly demanding and requires a go-getter mentality and business acumen. We expect Finance staff to be the enabler for success of the terminal.

More than 500 employees are employed within the organization.

About the job position

As a Accounting Manager, you will:
• Ensure local statutory compliance (including translation APMM GAAP to local Dutch law) in close collaboration with the GSC Accounting Manager and Finance Shared Service Center.
• Coordinate Internal & External local audits (including legal auditors, Customs, GRC, Tax department).
• Actively contribute towards audit planning, data availability, audit questionnaire and manage execution of recommendations.
• Oversee cash flow needs safeguarding the company’s ability to operate and invest.
• Collaborate closely with the GSC Accounting Manager and teams in the Finance Shared Service Center to ensure on time, quality period, year-end closings reporting’s and, follow up on issues.
• Collaborate closely with the Service Delivery Lead of the Finance Shared Service Center on key delivery metrics and quality of finance delivery.
• Responsible for tax accounting, tax planning and tax compliance in close cooperation with Global and/or Regional Tax

Qualifications and experience

• Requires a university degree in finance or accounting. Qualification as a Chartered Accountant
or Certified Public Auditor will be beneficial.
• Requires at least 8-10 years of progressively higher responsibility of general accounting and finance experience.
• Requires strong communication skills and active listening skills.
• Must have strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to influence and collaborate with others outside of reporting authority to achieve shared goals.
• Proven leadership skills with ability to empower others to take action. Develops and inspires others to accomplish set goals and encourages high standards of performance. Commands attention and leads by personal example.
• Ability to handle confidential company and employee information with complete discretion.
• Strong analytical skills, including the ability to consider complex and ambiguous situations objectively with full consideration of causes and implications on business and stakeholders.
• Must have extensive knowledge of accounting standards, accounting principles and practices, including some knowledge of international audit and finance reporting standards.
• Proven knowledge of Management Accounting fundamentals and its applications.
• Dutch language skills
