We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated AWS Cloud Developer to support the implementation and enhancement of cloud-based solutions designed by our AWS Developer/Architects and Senior AWS Cloud Developers. The ideal candidate will have foundational experience with AWS services, software development, and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC). This role provides a clear career progression pathway towards Senior AWS Cloud Developer and Developer/Architect positions.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Implementation:

  • Work closely with Senior Developers and Architects to implement AWS-based solutions.

  • Deploy and manage applications using AWS services such as Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, ECS, and CloudFormation.

  • Assist in developing and maintaining Infrastructure-as-Code templates, primarily using AWS CDK.

Development & Automation:

  • Write clear, maintainable, and efficient code for cloud-native applications, primarily in TypeScript (preferred), Python, Java, or Go.

  • Support automation of operational tasks and infrastructure deployments through CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, CodePipeline).

Performance Optimisation:

  • Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting performance issues within AWS solutions.

  • Implement logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions using AWS CloudWatch and X-Ray.

Security and Compliance:

  • Follow established security practices and standards to ensure secure and compliant AWS deployments.

  • Help maintain compliance with relevant industry standards such as GDPR, HIPAA, or ISO.

Collaboration and Learning:

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including product management and QA.

  • Actively participate in regular team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions.

  • Proactively learn and adopt best practices and standards shared by senior team members.

Cost Awareness:

  • Gain an understanding of AWS cost management principles.

  • Contribute to optimising resource usage to ensure cost-efficient operations.

Key Skills and Abilities

  • Practical experience with AWS services and cloud-native application development.

  • Familiarity with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, RDS, S3, ECS, and CloudFront.

  • Knowledge or experience with Infrastructure-as-Code tools, particularly AWS CDK.

  • Understanding of containerisation technologies (Docker).

  • Basic experience with DevOps tools and practices such as GitHub Actions and CodePipeline.

  • Familiarity with programming languages such as TypeScript, Python, Java, or Go.

  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs, microservices architectures, and event-driven design.

  • Awareness of AWS IAM, security best practices, and data encryption methods.
