Having written over $877m in gross written premium in 2023, we’ve achieved significant growth since our beginnings in 2021. Our investors were excited about the fact we were revolutionising the way a 333 year-old industry was working. There are hardly any industries left that are mainly paper based, but the specialty insurance market is one. Together with partners at Google and UCL we developed Ki and created a platform that helps insurance brokers place risk in a fast and frictionless way. We’re continuing to lead the charge on the digitisation of this market and we need more excellent minds to work with us to realise this goal and create more opportunities.
Where you come in?
You will work alongside the Underwriting Director for Property, being primarily accountable for the North American Open Market class of business. You will be chiefly responsible for the adherence to the agreed business plan and ultimately underwriting performance for this class of business.
What you will be doing: 🖋️
You will work with the Portfolio Management team to define and optimise annual plan strategy, reflective of market conditions. Alongside the Underwriting Director you will set underwriting appetite taking steps to ensure the KiDS portfolio is in line with said appetite to maintain a profitable portfolio. You'll provide leadership and development guidance to directly reporting Underwriters assisting in strategic conversations with Broker partners when required to communicate underwriting appetite and rationale. You will work alongside the Algorithmic and Pricing teams as the subject matter expert to bring specialty product and market knowledge to bear in order to shape the underwriting, pricing and distribution models.
Finally, you will be accountable for providing insight for various committee's including but not limited to the Portfolio Underwriting Committee, Underwriting Governance Committee, Performance vs Plan, Reserving Committee and Major Loss Panel.
