Our culture thrives on high performance, and we set the bar high for new Hueligans who join us.

We invite you to read the advert below for our new Technical Manager - Packaging position to understand the role, and explore our 7 Huel values before applying to ensure we have the right working environment for you!

The role

We're committed to giving our customers top-quality products and a great experience every time they enjoy Huel. Our Technical team plays a big part in that, ensuring product quality and safety. We’re now looking for a Technical Manager to take ownership of technical standards across packaging for our food, drink, and merchandise ranges (think shakers and scoops!).

This role will be key in implementing packaging schemes and ensuring regulatory compliance across the UK, EU, US, and Asian markets, while also working closely with industry bodies to keep us at the forefront of best practice.

Here’s an insight into what you’ll get up to:

  • Managing the implementation of packaging scheme & regulatory compliance in UK, EU, US & Asian markets, working closely with industry & sector bodies. Reporting monthly on compliance to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Managing compliance to accreditation requirements including; Kosher, Halal, BRCGS, and supporting accreditation audits.
  • Setting the packaging technical requirements & undertaking the approval of suppliers & packaging materials on a global basis
  • Build monthly KPIs to assess against packaging suppliers and regularly monitor and improve performance, building strong relationships with suppliers
  • Driving the innovation agenda for sustainable packaging with a particular emphasis on achieving low carbon, circular packaging solutions
  • Developing testing procedures for packaging ensuring specification & legal conformance (e.g. ISTA, drop and burst testing). Setting and monitoring adherence to quality standards
  • Driving efficiency, quality and suitability of packaging at our manufacturing site in Milton Keynes, working closely with the Engineering team.
  • Managing packaging related complaints reduction. Setting initiatives for suppliers, internal and co-manufactures, working closely with site Technical Managers.
  • Being the Huel ‘go to’ and business voice for packaging.
  • Defining & developing a sustainable packaging strategy for all Huel Products in collaboration with our sustainability, development and procurement teams

What we're looking for in you

This role will best suit someone with circa 3-5 years + of experience within a technical manager role. You may have worked on packaging directly, or you may just have done some packaging project work and have an interest in pursuing it full time!

  • You’ll need to have worked within the food and drink sector.
  • A bonus will be some knowledge and understanding of legislative requirements within the UK/EU/US but this isn’t essential.
  • Strong organisational, project management, and delegation skills
  • A positive, energetic and can-do attitude and an appetite to get stuck into a variety of projects at once

And as always, we’re on the lookout for new Hueligans who love a fast-paced environment and are always striving to be their best. We want people who aren’t afraid to think differently and push boundaries. If you’re all about setting big goals and believe that amazing things happen through creativity and teamwork, you’ll fit right in at Huel!
