Who we are

As the UK’s leading beer, cider and pub business, we’re home to some of the world’s best-loved beers and ciders, and a leading player in the international drinks industry.

We're the name behind a host of brilliant brands, from Inch’s to Birra Moretti and many more. And with around 2,400 pubs to our name in the UK, our Star Pubs business is all about putting pubs at the centre of community life.

But we’re more than just great beers and ciders – we’re a place where passion meets purpose, careers are crafted as carefully as our brews, and enjoyment of life is part of the job.

About the role

As a Maintenance Planner in Packaging, you will be an integral part of the engineering team on site in Hereford ensuring that engineering maintenance plans are completed OTIF and our packaging lines run efficiently. This role is crucial in ensuring Heineken’s Packaging assets operate reliably, efficiently, and in full compliance with both regulatory and company standards. You will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring engineering maintenance plans (corrective and preventive), supporting compliance and budget control, and driving continuous improvement across the site.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Creating and communicating weekly maintenance schedules for APM days (engineering and CILT days) and other maintenance windows in packaging based off line priorities to improve unplanned downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Planning and executing annual shutdown plans to reduce packaging unplanned downtime, utilising the whole packaging engineering team and contractors to do so
  • Daily and weekly monitoring and reporting of unplanned downtime trends to better schedule maintenance work based off priorities
  • Support significant breakdowns by coordinating planning, resources, contractors, parts and follow-up work as required
  • Supporting TPM deployment and continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S, AM (steps 0–5), RCFAs, centrelining and Kaizens
  • Monitoring and reporting repair and maintenance costs against budget, highlighting risks and opportunities to Maintenance Managers
  • Tracking and reporting KPIs such as APM day effectiveness and CMMS (SAP) usage to support performance targets and audits
  • Collaborating with site stakeholders and external contractors to resolve maintenance planning obstacles and ensure effective execution of plans
  • Optimising spare parts and repairable stock management, working with our onsite stores team, other Heineken sites and the maintenance HUB to reduce inventory costs
  • Be the subject matter expert for our CMMS system (SAP but will move to Maximo)

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for a technically skilled person who has the drive to match and likes problem-solving. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Time served as an engineer with a recognised qualification such as an apprenticeship, HNC/HND or degree ideally with a formal safety qualification (IOSH/NEBOSH).
  • 3–4 years' experience using CMMS (preferably SAP PM) in an engineering or FMCG environment.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills
  • Prior exposure to process/packaging operations and execution of continuous improvement methods such as LEAN, TPM or general CI Methodologies

If you want to grow and develop your skills, gain hands-on experience with a wide range of technologies and sharpen your problem-solving abilities, we want to hear from you.
