As the UK's leading beer, cider and pub business, we're home to some of the world's best-loved beers and ciders, and a leading player in the international drinks industry.
We're the name behind a host of brilliant brands, from Inch's to Birra Moretti and many more. And with around 2,400 pubs to our name in the UK, our Star Pubs business is all about putting pubs at the centre of community life.
But we're more than great beers and ciders. We're a place where passion meets purpose, careers are built as carefully as our brews, and enjoyment of life is part of the job.
We're looking for an Engineering Manager to join our Manchester brewery. The successful applicant will play a critical role as guardian of asset care across the site, driving performance and ensuring we meet global HEINEKEN standards.
About The Role
This senior leadership role reports directly to the Site Director as part of the site Leadership Team. You will lead the Planned Maintenance (PM) Pillar and have direct line accountability for Utilities, Automation, CAPEX Projects, Engineering stores and the Area Maintenance Development Engineers (MDEs). You will implement engineering, maintenance, sustainability and digital strategy across the brewery.
You will own and manage the CAPEX budget and Repair and Maintenance (R&M) for Utilities. You will work collaboratively with the Brewing and Packaging Manager and Maintenance Managers to ensure effective management of the wider Repair and Maintenance (R&M) budget. Building strong relationships with the brewery management team, cross-functional peers and our Supply Support Hub is crucial to your success.
We expect supportive leadership over control. You will use your coaching and mentoring experience to create innovative ways to support your team to thrive and work more productively.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead safe working across engineering and maintenance, ensuring all activities meet HEINEKEN safety and sustainability standards
- Develop and execute the local sustainability roadmap
- Implement the engineering strategy for the brewery, including Planned Maintenance (PM) Pillar development and continuous improvement
- Own and manage the CAPEX budget and Utilities Repair and Maintenance (R&M) budget, delivering projects on time, in full and within budget
- Support other Maintenance Managers with wider Repair and Maintenance (R&M) budget management
- Drive implementation of the connected brewery and connected worker initiatives
- Lead the Utilities, Automation, Engineering stores and Area MDE functions
- Manage workforce capacity and day-to-day resource allocation
- Support asset performance through monitoring and analysis of maintenance costs
- Lead local supplier and contractor management
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone with proven leadership skills, technical knowledge and a track record of delivering results in a complex manufacturing environment.
Essential:
- Experience delivering CAPEX projects

- Previous experience managing a large budget
- Proven servant leadership skills with examples of developing and coaching a high performing team
- Experience leading change programmes
Desirable:
- Experience in utilities management in an FMCG environment
Then this could be the role for you!
