Our mission

Two in five people in the UK rent their homes.

At Goodlord, our mission is to be the gold standard platform for renting - simplifying the process for agents, landlords and tenants alike.

We started Goodlord because we believed renting could be simpler, more transparent and far less stressful for everyone involved. As more people rent their homes and digital expectations rise, we’ve continued to evolve our platform and products to meet that need.

Today, more than 3,000 letting agents use Goodlord and over 350 Goodlordians across the group are helping us build the future of renting.

Like most scale-ups it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster journey - but we’re now stronger than ever and continuing to invest heavily in our people and leadership capability as we grow.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a People Partner who enjoys figuring things out.

Someone who notices when something in a team isn’t quite working - whether that’s rising absence, uneven performance or managers struggling to have the right conversations - and works with leaders to understand what’s really going on and how to fix it.

Our People Partners combine strong HR fundamentals with curiosity, judgement and commercial thinking. We’re people-led and policy-light, so this role is about solving real problems with managers rather than simply applying process.

You’ll be part of a collaborative People team of nine, reporting to our People Partnering lead, our People Partners work closely with our People Ops and Talent teams to support leaders as we continue to grow.

What the role looks like in practice

In a typical week you might:

  • Coach a manager through a complex ER or performance situation

  • Help a leadership team understand a pattern in engagement, absence or performance

  • Deliver part of our leadership development programme for managers

  • Support organisational design decisions as teams evolve

  • Analyse people data and insights to identify trends and improve outcomes

  • Work closely with leaders to strengthen team structure, performance and capability

This role blends hands-on HR work with bigger-picture thinking - the operational reality and the strategic perspective.

What we’re looking for

What matters most is that you enjoy partnering with managers and solving people problems.

You’ll likely bring:

  • Solid commercial experience as a People Partner/HR Advisor/HRBP/HR Generalist in a high-performing People team. (Ideally in a Tech or Regulated business but this is not essential!)

  • Strong subject matter expertise on all things ER - you’ll be expected to autonomously manage your own cases, identify risks and find ways to navigate complex situations. To reiterate, we are people led and policy light.

  • A curious, strategic thinker who can roll up their sleeves; you’re comfortable with data and can think critically to diagnose issues and create solutions that drive a high-performance culture.

  • Resilience and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment; you enjoy the challenge of change and are comfortable spotting opportunities to make things better.

A quick note on level

This is a hands-on true People Partner role working closely with managers and teams across the business.

It’s likely to suit someone currently operating as a People Partner, HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor, rather than someone already operating at Head of People or Director level.

This role might not be for you if…

  • You prefer highly structured HR environments with strict processes and escalation frameworks

  • You enjoy policy interpretation more than diagnosing people problems

  • You prefer roles focused primarily on HR administration rather than manager partnering

  • You’re uncomfortable operating in a fast-moving scale-up environment where priorities can shift quickly
