Job Description

📍Sheffield - Hybrid. 3 days per week in Sheffield city centre office, 2 days remote / work from home (4 days per week in office during probation) - 40 hour week

🚆Regular trips to other offices, including Lincoln and London (approx. 2 days a month) are essential.

✴All travel and accommodation costs to non-base office locations are fully covered.

If you're the sort of person who loves making things run brilliantly behind the scenes, this could be the role for you.

About the role

We're looking for a People Operations Specialist to become the operational heartbeat of our People Team.

While your primary focus will be People Operations, you'll also play an important role in creating a brilliant workplace experience in our Sheffield office.

This isn't a role where you'll wait to be told what to do. You'll thrive here if you're the kind of person who spots something that needs doing and just gets on with it - someone who takes ownership, follows things through and gives others confidence that everything is under control.

You'll own the operational side of the employee lifecycle - from contracts and onboarding to Right to Work, visa compliance, employee communications and continuously improving the way our People Team operates.

Alongside People Operations, you'll be the People Team's representative in our Sheffield office. You'll take ownership of the day-to-day office experience, helping create a workplace that people genuinely enjoy being part of. From facilities and office management to engagement initiatives and supporting our London and Lincoln offices when needed, you'll play an important role in making Goodlord a brilliant place to work.

You'll be joining a People Team that's investing in People Operations and giving it the recognition it deserves. We believe great People Ops isn't just administration - it's the foundation that enables everything else the People Team delivers.

This role would particularly suit someone who's worked as a standalone HR Manager, HR Officer or HR Generalist and discovered that People Operations is the part of the job they enjoy most.

If you're someone who loves creating brilliant employee experiences, improving processes and making sure everything runs like clockwork, we'd love to hear from you.

Who are you

You enjoy making life easier for everyone around you. Whether that's spotting a better way of doing something, improving a process or making sure a new starter has an incredible first day, you're always looking for ways to raise the bar.

What does that mean in practice?

  • You love owning the detail. You take real pride in making sure nothing slips through the cracks and delivering a brilliant experience for every employee.

  • You're someone people can rely on. You naturally take ownership, solve problems and follow things through without needing constant direction.

  • You're happy to act as the Sheffield office anchor, ensuring the workspace runs smoothly and feels welcoming for the team.

  • You have excellent organisation and attention to detail, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities without dropping the ball.

What we need from you

  • Solid experience in a People Operations, HR Operations or standalone HR role where you've owned employee lifecycle processes from start to finish.

  • Strong knowledge of onboarding, contracts, Right to Work checks, visas and general HR/People Ops administration.

  • Hands-on experience using modern People systems. We use Personio, Learnerbly and Officevibe, but we're open to experience with other HRIS and People tools too.

  • A genuine passion for improving processes and finding smarter, more efficient ways of working.

  • You'll be the face of the People Team in our Sheffield office, so you'll enjoy being visible, building relationships and creating a brilliant workplace experience.

It would also be great if you have

  • Experience planning employee engagement initiatives, office events or workplace activities.

  • An interest in using AI or automation to improve operational processes.

  • CIPD Level 3 or Level 5 (or working towards it).
