The opportunity

Our EY SAP team is focused on working with our clients to leverage these SAP innovations and create business value. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with a keenness to learn to join our SAP Value Architecture team to support our clients on their business transformation journeys and large-scale SAP implementation projects. SAP Value Architecture team is the tip of the spear for our SAP pursuits and provides a differentiating capability to ensure value identification, orchestration and realization across the delivery lifecycle.

Note: there will be other non-SAP opportunities to be involved in and apply the value architecture skills gained while working on SAP transformation projects.

Your key responsibilities

As a Manager in the Value Architecture team, you will work closely with senior EY stakeholders and client leadership teams to support pursuits and delivery. You will be proficient to connect value drivers with SAP products and capabilities and will help to define, govern, and track business cases across complex SAP / ERP enabled Transformation programmes for major UK and global firms. Depending on the project phase, and client needs, your responsibilities may include:

  • Assist our clients during initial programme/ project opportunities (known as Phase Zero) in developing a business case to transition for a new SAP technology – SAP S/4HANA
  • Support in defining ERP implementation cost models for a different scenarios such as hosting strategies (public cloud, private cloud), level of transformation (Greenfield, brownfield, hybrid) and partner ecosystems (BI/SI, single SI)
  • Align SAP S/4HANA value drivers with business outcomes, developing upfront value hypotheses to identify and quantify benefits that inform scope and deployment strategy.
  • Act as a bridge between SAP functional consultants, change management teams, and client business process owners - translating functional scope into end‑to‑end business processes that are traceable to the business case, while highlighting key change impacts across People, Data, Process and Technology.
  • Bring understanding of connecting SAP/ERP products and capabilities with business value drivers and engage client business owners to help quantify benefits.
  • Champion a value‑led approach to scoping and design, ensuring investment is prioritised toward processes with the greatest value potential.
  • Provide oversight to design teams on the consistent use of business process management platforms (e.g. Signavio, ARIS etc) and offer guidance on process analytics, process mining, and performance monitoring.
  • Ensure “fit-to-standard” approach for SAP best practices is complimented with the need to differentiate business processes where this provides competitive advantage.
  • Maintain custodianship of defined value drivers, detailed cost models and designed processes to ensure ongoing value management and traceability of business case into the solution for relevant functional areas.
  • Support wider SAP pursuits and opportunities to embed value management and help differentiate our S/4HANA proposition

You will:

  • Have strong Phase Zero experience and good understanding of alignment between Industry process reference models like APQC and SAP best practice processes
  • Be up to date with latest SAP S/4HANA product upgrades and license models (i.e. RISE) and their impact on the cost drivers / business outcomes (with support from EY SAP functional consultants and experts from SAP company)
  • Have functional domain knowledge to engage business process owners on benefits and associated SAP capabilities.
  • Awareness of SAP’s Value Lifecycle Management tools and Maturity surveys
  • Have familiarity and experience with market leading tools for business process management (SAP BTM suite), process analysis and process mining (e.g. Signavio, Celonis), enterprise architecture (e.g. LeanIX), as well as benchmarking and benefits management.

To qualify for the role, you must have

  • Good understanding of value drivers, Process KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and P&L metrics complimented with high-level SAP S/4HANA product knowledge in (at least) one of the following areas:
    • Finance
    • Procurement
    • Order to Cash
    • Asset management
    • Manufacturing
  • Previous involvement with business case development for the technology transformation projects, which included costs and benefits modelling.
  • Strong workshop facilitation skills, including with senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent Microsoft Suite skills to produce reports, presentations, and analysis including use of Co-Pilot.
  • Willingness to travel, where required, to client sites for specific engagements.

Ideally, you will also have

  • Knowledge of SAP project delivery approaches, including SAP Activate and traditional waterfall and agile methods
