Job Description

Join us, be part of more.

We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising how we power the planet. We're energisers. One team of 21,000 colleagues that's energising a greener, fairer future by creating an energy system that doesn’t rely on fossil fuels, whilst living our powerful commitment to igniting positive change in our communities. Here, you can find more purpose, more passion, and more potential. That’s why working here is #MoreThanACareer. We do energy differently - we do it all. We make it, store it, move it, sell it, and mend it.

We have a fantastic new opportunity for a Senior Strategy Manager to join our Centrica Home Strategy team. This team is responsible for setting the strategic vision, ambition and direction for the business and linking it with the wider Centrica corporate strategy. The team is also responsible for translating the strategic and financial priorities into business plans, performance measures and investment allocation that will be used to track delivery and measure success.

In this role, you will lead the strategy definition of Centrica Home by driving high-impact initiatives that shape our future in the evolving energy, services and HEM landscape. You'll be responsible for identifying, developing, and executing strategic opportunities that deliver sustainable growth whilst ensuring we remain at the forefront of serving our customers' changing needs.

What you'll do

  • Translate the Centrica Home long-term strategy to strategic initiatives, able to deliver the transformational growth ambition
  • Identify disruptive trends early and develop strategies to capitalise on new opportunities whilst mitigating potential threats.
  • Lead input to Quarterly Strategic Reviews (QSRs); assess competitors, market trends and business impact, presenting complex strategic concepts with clarity and conviction, influencing decision-making at the highest levels of the organisation.
  • Engage with CH and Group functional leadership to define the long-term strategic vision, communicate the strategic recommendations and secure buy-in for major initiatives.
  • Collaborate closely with Centrica Group strategy leadership to ensure seamless alignment between business unit and Group strategic priorities.
  • Develop Centrica Home investment papers partnering with project teams
  • Develop deep expertise in our retail markets, regulatory developments, and emerging technologies that could impact our strategic position.
  • Support the identification and evaluation of merger, acquisition, and strategic partnership opportunities (working with Group M&A and Partnership teams), ensuring strategic fit with Centrica Home's growth objectives and integration capabilities.
  • Establish robust measurement frameworks to track the success of strategic initiatives and their contribution to business performance.
  • Build and lead a high-performing strategy team, providing mentorship and development opportunities for analysts and graduates. You'll foster a culture of strategic thinking, analytical rigour, and collaborative problem-solving whilst ensuring the team has the capabilities needed to deliver against ambitious objectives.

Experience

  • Management consulting in a top-tier firm or in a similar corporate strategy role (3-5 years minimum required)
  • Expertise in the Energy and Services consumer markets is a plus, but not required

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong strategic toolkit: hypothesis-driven thinking, MECE frameworks, and narrative building.
  • Excellent financial modelling and business case development skills.
  • Proven exec-level written and verbal communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting quickly to overcome challenges.

Mindset:

  • Customer-focused, future-oriented, and passionate about driving growth.
  • Inclusive leadership style that empowers and develops others.

The team works flexibly across our Paddington, Reading and Windsor offices.

This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. While we can’t guarantee a permanent position at this stage, our intention is for the role to continue beyond the initial term, subject to business needs and performance.

Why should you apply?

We’re not a perfect place – but we’re a people place. Our priority is supporting all of the different realities our people face. Life is about so much more than work. We get it. That’s why we’ve designed our total rewards to give you the flexibility to choose what you need, when you need it, making sure that you and your family are supported not only financially, but physically and emotionally too.
