Ethics & Compliance Governance Consultant

Centrica Energy is the trading arm of Centrica. We trade power, gas, LNG, and energy attributes and connect producers, suppliers and off takers in the wholesale energy markets - and we provide our clients with the best route-to-market services available to the market today with physical and financial settlement approaches. We’re a total of 850+ colleagues from over 50 different nations, located in 8 different offices around the world. At our London office, where this role is located, you’ll be joining our international office with over 300 dedicated energy specialists.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Ethics & Compliance Consultant to support the delivery of Compliance Governance activities across Centrica Energy. This includes Regulatory Compliance relating to the UK, EU and US regulatory authorities and the jurisdictional energy regulators.

As an Ethics & Compliance Consultant, you will help drive a culture where customers receive good outcomes across the regulated businesses and collaborate with other “2nd Line of defence” functions across Centrica Group to develop/maintain an integrated & aligned approach to managing the risk of compliance with Laws and Regulations. This, in turn, will help to protect the profitability of the business, support positive customer outcomes, and protect the license to operate.

About the Role:

  • Maintain close working relationships with a view to maximising the efficiency and effectiveness of the overall E&C Compliance framework.

  • Ensure efficient management of all Ethics & Compliance (E&C) committees and forums, through ensuring meeting material is collated and distributed in a timely manner, actions are captured, tracked, and updated and an accurate record of meetings is recorded and retained.

  • Establishing and maintaining robust governance controls such as terms of reference, authorities, escalation paths and accountabilities.

  • Collating, maintaining, and overseeing the execution of the annual compliance plan across Centrica Energy.

  • Develop and maintains a schedule of regulatory reporting including ownership and approvals. Responsible for liaising with stakeholders and ensuring regulatory submissions and registrations on CEREMP and FCA Connect (or jurisdictional equivalents) are completed in a timely manner.

  • Supports the embedding of the Senior Managers Framework across Centrica Energy including the application of Worksmart Accord SM&CR software solution which includes training, maintaining, updating MRMs, SoRs, facilitating handovers, and annual approval of the Handover Policy.

  • Support ongoing maintenance of the Senior Managers Framework including SMF/Cert induction, ensuring the Senior Managers Handbook is up to date and provides SMF role holders with informative content in relation to regulatory and our expectations of them.

  • Responsible for content and maintenance of the Centrica Energy Team and External SharePoint.

  • Responsible for ongoing maintenance of relevant E&C Policies and Standards ensuring central records held on the Policy Hub.

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert on relevant Governance Activities for Centrica Energy.

About You:

  • Thorough understanding of how regulators work.

  • Awareness and experience of working in a regulated environment

  • An understanding of a regulatory framework in a wholesale energy trading business would be beneficial

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide clear and succinct information.

  • Excellent analytical skills. Ability to identify and interpret key issues from complex and detailed regulatory and government papers.

  • Credibility to build relationships with a variety of internal stakeholders and influence accordingly.

  • Experience in multi-tasking, being able to navigate complex tasks & prioritise effectively.

  • Engage and manage stakeholders in an open, honest, and productive manner to promote collaborative working.

  • Understanding of organisational governance, business models, culture, operational, financial, quality assurance and risk management procedures is a must.
