Job Description

We are Centrica! We’re so much more than an energy company. We’re a family of brands revolutionising a cleaner, greener future. Working here is #MoreThanACareer - we’re powered by purpose. Together we can make an impact that will truly change tomorrow. Whether you’re developing cutting-edge green tech, helping customers on the front line or simplifying operations behind the scenes.

Your work here isn’t just a job – it’s a mission. We all play a vital role in energising a greener, fairer future.

We’ve been keeping Britain warm for over 200 years. Today we power 1 in 3 homes in the UK – but supplying energy is just part of what we do.

We’re on a mission to make the UK’s homes greener and more energy efficient. With clever tech like Hive thermostats, heat pumps, solar panels and EV chargers, we’re making it cheaper and easier to reduce your home’s carbon-footprint. And with our new PeakSave programme, we’re actively rewarding better energy use too.

Our nationwide team of 6,500 engineers are energy efficiency experts – offering practical ways to make homes more sustainable.

To help us achieve this, we’re looking for an Assistant Compliance Analyst for a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

The role of the Assistant Compliance Analyst sits within the Approvals team, working with the ECO Assurance Leads and Approvals Manager, to successfully process, report, and pay for compliant measures / projects in line with the Ofgem ECO4 & GBIS delivery guidelines and the partner delivery contract. It would suit a commercially minded and well organised individual who wants to develop operational experience and who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Ensure and provide assurance that British Gas is operating the ECO and GBIS schemes within Department of Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ) and Ofgem supplier guidelines
  • Administer and support processes required to deliver ECO and GBIS qualifying measures and to ensure measures are notified and approved as part of British Gas’ overall obligations, across all channels.
  • Drive the performance of all channels to ensure ECO and GBIS compliance standards are met, flagging non-compliance and any issues to the associated channel manager and partner.
  • Ensure that the latest ECO and GBIS requirements are understood, update handbooks and issue accurate communications to enable competence from delivery partners, and to ensure good conversations when updating or challenging them on compliance
  • Where applicable, maintain controls and cross checks to ensure the internal view of delivery, on a measure or project basis, is consistent, accurate, and a good source of data for KPI reporting on ECO and GBIS Delivery
  • Maintain a library of evidence documents, including within our third-party software platform (ECO Hub), and robust audit trail for each ECO/GBIS partner, to give British Gas and its auditors the comfort that ECO and GBIS carbon is eligible and challenge delivery partners when criteria are not met.
  • Ensure information systems, including internal spreadsheets and databases are operated to the required standard to maintain accurate and secure records.
  • Where applicable, use excel and database queries to support all MI requests that require interrogation of our ECO/GBIS data.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure all processes are aligned and are continuously improved so we can work effectively and efficiently.
  • Work closely with Ofgem to finalise approved measures and projects, including all Closedown and Surplus activity associated with the end of an obligation period, assisting with ad-hoc investigations into partner compliance.
  • Work closely with the other analysts ensuring we maintain a library of evidence documents and robust audit trails for each ECO partner

Key Skills Required:

We are committed to creating a cleaner and greener future. And we’re making big changes to help us get there. That means cutting customers' emissions and our own to reach net zero. And because our people are the beating heart of our business, we will continue to champion inclusivity, develop future skills and invest in our local communities to create a better world for everyone. As part of our reforestation project with WeForest, for every new employee that joins our family, we plant trees in underprivileged areas in Tanzania to offer farming and wildlife economy opportunities for locals.

At Centrica we embrace diversity and actively seek to attract individuals with unique backgrounds and perspectives. To build a more sustainable future, we need the best team – a team with a diverse mix of people and skills, where everyone feels welcome and able to succeed. We are dedicated in helping to close the diversity gap and would love to see more females, people of colour and LGBTQ+ employees, as well as those from a variety of cultures and ethnicity to veterans and the differently abled. Supporting diversity and inclusion is a big part of who we are, we are not looking for people to fit into our culture but to add to it!
