Job Overview

• Support the BG Energy Finance System team in delivering process improvements and analytics for the wider finance community
• Work with a variety of stakeholders across Finance, IS and the rest of the business to support governance and control of the finance systems landscape and ensure systems and financial integrity is maintained.

What you’ll be doing:

• Support delivery of finance process improvements that enhance the quality and increase the level of automation of finance processes.
• Impact assess problems and provide advice as to whether we should use traditional systems change or other automation tools e.g. Power Apps to deliver change quickly.
• Be a trusted advisor for finance systems, working closely with Service Delivery Managers and SaaS provider(s) to support service requests and incidents by providing technical information or data to support.
• Partner with virtual teams including external and third parties to deliver and represent finance on projects impacting finance
• Be able to support testing of system change pre and post go live
• Be able to create advanced analysis based on system data to explain a problem, system behaviour, or financial performance
• Assess risk of operational processes on financial activity and identify control gaps which could lead to financial detriment.

Key Stakeholders

• Working closely with rest of finance systems team on a daily basis
• Provide reporting/analysis to wider Energy Finance team (Financial control, Revenue Assurance etc)
• Impact assess system changes initiated by BG Energy Operational Teams

You’ll have a track record of:

• Previous experience working on complex billing processes in the Energy industry
• Basic coding skills (SQL or Python) and understanding of big data
• Advanced knowledge of excel, powerbi or power query
• Experience of working with system changes for finance stakeholders or willingness to learn

Location : This is a hybrid role, so you will be required to attend one of our offices once a week with occasional travel to other British Gas Sites when required. This role is also open to part-time workers.
