What will you do day to day?
As a member of the Risk & Actuarial team you will support British Gas in achieving its commercial ambitions and delivering customer outcomes while ensuring ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements.
The role predominantly supports our insurance offering which covers the breakdown of domestic boilers and central heating systems. However, there are opportunities to support risk-based decision making across the whole of British Gas.
Reporting to the Head of Financial Risk & Actuarial in the Solvency II Pillar 2 oversight team you will:
- Support the quarterly review of technical provisions.
- Support the oversight of underwriting, assisting the Chief Actuary in expressing an opinion on the overall underwriting and reinsurance policies.
- Support the activities of the PRA Compliance team including regular horizon scanning.
- Contribute to risk management activities including the ORSA.
A little bit about you
You will be a part-qualified actuary making good progress with the actuarial exams. You will be looking to gain experience of working in a second line (oversight) team for a non-mainstream insurer where you will gain experience across capital, risk, technical provisions and pricing. You will have good knowledge of Solvency II and demonstrable insurance experience.
You have good communication skills and can build and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders up to exec level.
