The Solutions Factory Design Specialist provides support for UK field-based sales specialists and account managers by taking ownership of specialist product and solution design, pricing, and ordering. Working with colleagues across BT who manage relationships with public sector organisations, multinationals, and large corporate UK businesses, you will turn broad discussions about desired business outcomes into compelling solution designs that combine BT's diverse product and services portfolio

We're specifically looking for experience in UCaaS, CCaaS,, Mobile & IoT, and Cybersecurity and knowledge of Networking & Security would also be beneficial.

You will focus on combining the right mix of BT offerings to deliver competitive and technically sound solutions while maintaining adherence to Public Contracting Regulations. The role offers the opportunity to expand business with existing customers through selling across our portfolio towers and supporting acquisition, while working closely with colleagues and stakeholders across BT to deliver responsive specialist design and solutions pricing that enables account managers to close profitable business.

What you’ll be doing

  • Support deal qualification activity with Sales Specialists and Account Owners, understanding design briefs, tender requirements and business outcomes; assess product suitability, review customer specifications, and engage with suitable BT vendors/partners to secure preferential pricing and deal terms.
  • Design solutions at both high-level (with budgetary pricing) and detailed levels, ensuring compliance with BT design principles and financial guardrails; verify network and service access availability and identify potential delivery challenges.
  • Build comprehensive solution pricing through appropriate pricing tools, Salesforce processes, and governance approvals; create technically appropriate and commercially viable proposals, proposal documentation, and bid text that are ratified with partners and account teams.
  • Develop customer presentations and iterate designs, pricing, and proposal documentation based on feedback; prepare customer order forms and CRFs including eSigning support and assist with handover to delivery and order input into BT systems.
  • Maintain expertise in your assigned technology area by staying current with technology developments, market movements, regulations, and competitive landscape.

What we would like to see on your CV

  • Experience in a specialist product or technical role, sales engineering, or solution design and/or solution architecture, preferably in the communications or IT Services industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in IT, ICT/Telecommunications, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven experience in analysing the needs of prospective customers against an existing product set and providing advice on how solutions can be delivered using those products.
  • Demonstrated strength in solution design, solution architecture, proposal development, and requirements analysis.
  • Experience working with one or more industry partners and/or vendors within the telecommunications and IT sectors.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a growth mindset and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
