Job Description
Location
This role is based out of our New Bailey, Manchester, or One Braham London offices. We have a hybrid working model of 3 days together and 2 days wherever.
Due to the nature of the work, you will need to be elegible for security clearance+.
About the role
The role of a Software Engineering Professional is to contribute to the design, development and delivery of technical solutions that support and enhance services for our internal and external customers.
Working as part of a wider engineering team, you will assist in the implementation of solutions, gaining hands-on experience across design, development, testing and deployment activities. This role is key to supporting the ongoing performance and reliability of Secure Platforms, helping to maintain the critical services that our customers depend on.
A key expectation of this role is a strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development. A Software Engineering Professional is encouraged to actively build their technical expertise, deepen their understanding of engineering practices, and develop familiarity with the wider platform.
What you’ll be doing
- Supports on the implementation of technical solutions for both customers and colleagues, working within cross-functional squads to deliver against requirements
- Supports in the execution of technical decisions, technology choices and architecture of the ServiceNow product, features and capabilities, effectively balancing short-term impact with long-term transformation
- Supports the design, development and documentation of solutions in accordance with the wider platform architecture and security standards
- Undertakes technical reviews to continually update knowledge and skills in ServiceNow best practices, ensuring a base level of technical specialism proficiency to enable industry and quality standards to positively impact work and customers
- Integrates existing software products with ServiceNow and solves routine problems to enable incompatible platforms to work together.
- Supports the delivery of an ambitious and compelling technical roadmap to meet the needs of the business, engineering team, and our customers
- Supports in the implementation of ways to improve working processes within ServiceNow and the wider Secure Platforms space
- Supports the capture and refinement of requirements with stakeholders, ensuring clear understanding of value propositions and contributing to the delivery of outcomes aligned to business and customer needs.
- Provides regular updates and effort estimates throughout the development and deployment lifecycle, ensuring transparency and alignment with stakeholders and delivery teams.
- Ensures the prompt resolution of incidents, maintaining clear and timely communication with customers, and escalating or informing colleagues and management as appropriate.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Experience using ServiceNow or a similar ITSM toolset.
- Foundational programming knowledge, with an understanding of at least one scripting language (e.g. Javascript), and an understanding of software development best practices such as version control and testing principles.
- Familiarity with core ITIL functions (Incident, Problem, Change, Request)
Desirable Skills / Experience
- ServiceNow certification (CSA, CAD, CSI)
- Awareness of security and data handling practices
